The 2022 Ford Edge is a midsize crossover SUV that will gain mild updates this year. This SUV is very popular, and it sits right in the middle of Ford’s SUV lineup. Last year’s model has been updated, and the new one will be a carryover for sure.
Generally, every update is welcome, and the new Edge looks more attractive than ever. It features compact styling and one of the most pleasant cabins. The manufacturer added a much bigger infotainment screen and the latest Ford’s Sync 4 system to stay competitive. Under the hood, this SUV offers two engine options, and one of them powers the mighty ST version.
2022 Ford Edge Improvements
The forthcoming 2022 Ford Edge is a great-looking SUV that features some premium touches. This model is now more wider, which is plus for shoulder room and chassis stability alike. The front fascia looks attractive, and Blue Oval made some revisions on the grille and LED headlights. It also wears the new 18-inch alloy wheels, giving this SUV a more sporty stance.
However, if you’re looking for something more sporty, the ST version is the right choice. This model comes with a gloss-black grille that matches fog-light surrounds. It also features much bigger 20-inch alloy wheels, plus sporty dual exhaust outlets. Two new colors manufacturer introduced last year that are also available this year: Carbonized Gray and Lithium Gray.
More Amenities Inside
The 2022 Ford Edge cabin is comfortable with more soft-touches than before. There is plenty of room for four adults in two rows. Otherwise, the new Edge also offers plenty of room for cargo. With the rear seats folded, this SUV can accommodate 29 of our carry-on suitcases, which is great for this class.
As for the infotainment and connectivity, the Edge uses the latest Ford’s Sync 4A software interface with a large 12.0-inch touchscreen display. It also comes with many amenities, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. Driver-assistance features are now more accessible, and the Edge benefits from automated emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot monitoring as the standard equipment.
2022 Ford Edge Powertrain Specs
The latest 2022 Ford Edge is the SUV that is powered by two proven engines. The main engine is a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder unit that can develop 250 horsepower. This engine uses a Front-wheel drive (FWD) as standard, while all-wheel drive (AWD) is optional.
However, the next one is the most favorite because it powers the high-performance ST version. This model is powered by a turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 that generates 335 horsepower (achieved with premium gasoline). Unlike the standard one, it comes standard with an all-wheel drive. Both engines come with 8-speed automatic transmission, and both have a fuel-saving stop/restart feature. The ST variant is keeping its sportier status, featuring gearshift paddles mounted beneath the steering wheel.
Price and Release Date
The base MSRP of the new 2022 Ford Edge is acceptable, considering the equipment. This model starts at $32,495 and can go up to $50,000 for the loaded ST version. Prices for the base Ford Edge are in the same line as Nissan Murano.
However, the all-wheel-drive Honda Passport and Jeep Grand Cherokee both start higher. Blue Oval will introduce the new Edge in the coming mounts, while sales may begin soon after.
