In case you didn’t know, Toyota has a great history of capable off-road SUVs, starting from the FJ Cruiser and 4Runner to the luxurious Land Cruiser. Judging by the new photos, it seems that Toyota intends to conquer the off-road market with the upcoming electric vehicle.
The new SUV, as we can see, looks compact, featuring boxy styling, rugged bumpers, and body cladding. Unfortunately, very little is known about its electric powertrain. According to many reports, the Toyota Compact Cruiser EV will be decently quick, and it should be able to navigate rough terrain with ease. 2024 Toyota Compact Cruiser EV Exterior
From what we’ve seen, the upcoming 2024 Toyota Compact Cruiser EV looks really unique. Unlike other Toyota models, the new Cruiser comes with a boxy styling. It also has a rugged bumper and body cladding.
As we said, the new model will also use Toyota’s new e-TNGA platform, also found underpinning the bZ4x and Subaru Solterra models. The platform is strong and is made to take very large batteries. We must say that the rugged styling of the new Cruiser EV reminds us a little bit of the FJ Cruiser that was introduced in 2014.
Roomy and Modern Interior
Presumably, the new Toyota Compact Cruiser EV will be modern yet spacious inside. This SUV judging from the first images will offer room for five passengers. However, considering its boxy styling, we don’t know in reality if this will influence legroom and headroom. We’re expecting to see at least a stylish dashboard that dominates with a 9-inch touch screen. Also, Bluetooth connectivity and Apple’s Siri should be standard, as should Apple CarPlay and Android Auto phone integration.
The latest Safety Sense suite will be included with pre-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
2024 Toyota Compact Cruiser EV Specs
The forthcoming 2024 Toyota Compact Cruiser EV will likely share some suspension and powertrain with other upcoming electric Toyotas. We can safe assumption that it will use Toyota’s new e-TNGA platform, also underpinning the bZ4x and Subaru Solterra models.
So, expect a dual-motor all-wheel drive and somewhere around 250 hp or so. As for millage, the new model will probably be more aerodynamic than the all-wheel-drive bZ4X, which currently provides 222 miles of range.
2024 Toyota Compact Cruiser EV Price, Release Date
We estimate the price of the Cruiser EV that it could be around $35,000 for the base LE trim. Also, the manufacturer will offer two more trims including XLE, and Limited. From some reports, the XLE should be $40,000, while the most expensive XLE at $45,000.
