The upcoming 2024 Subaru Outback should gain minor upgrades. The current model underwent a more dramatic makeover, therefore the next one should only see small changes. That includes a few cabin modifications as well as some modest cosmetic improvements. Things will most likely stay the same underneath the hood, from what we know.
The Onyx Edition of the Outback model includes two engine choices, unlike some other trim levels. Along with the top-of-the-line Touring model, the Wilderness variant is also available, providing impressive off-road capability. The price should remain and here’s everything you need to know about this new model.
Minor Exterior Facelift
Not long ago, Subaru introduced new styling. A new front fascia with new LED headlights and a larger grille is not present and it won’t see further upgrades. However, the 2024 Subaru Outback will gain new optional wheels and more angular lines. Still, it is far from a significant facelift. Yes, there will be some cosmetic improvements. According to what we know, new taillight graphics will be introduced and one or two new exterior colors should be on offer.
The proportions of the Outback SUV remain the same because it will use the same platform. Outback also has a riding height of 8.7 inches. Subaru has a trim level called Wilderness if you want a higher ride and better off-road capability.
Engine Specs
The forthcoming 2024 Subaru Outback will still have a wide range of powertrain choices. The 2.4-liter Boxer engine is standard on the XT trim level. This engine can produce up to 260 hp and a torque of 277 lb-ft. There is also a 2.5-liter engine with 182 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque. No matter which engine you choose, Subaru offers a reliable and smooth CVT automatic transmission.
The optional engine’s fuel economy is 30 mpg on the highway and 23 mpg in the city. Regarding the base powertrain option, the highway mileage of 33 mpg sounds promising. Still, Subaru has no intention to improve the Outback’s performance.
Subaru Outback Wilderness
As we mentioned, the 2024 Subaru Outback will offer the off-road Wilderness version. It is a relatively new trim level, so we don’t expect further enhancements. However, there is no need to improve anything, because it is an impressive variant with additional ground clearance. The Outback Wilderness provides 9.5 inches of ride height, bolder bumpers, new tires, and a unique hood decal.
The styling is more aggressive, naturally. Still, the focus is on the off-road capability, so this model has larger 17-inch alloy wheels as standard. Subaru also added underbody protection, skid plates, and roof rails. On top of that, the sunroof is available and it looks very upright. Lastly, this version will offer various drive modes and a standard AWD system.
2024 Subaru Outback Release Date and Price
The price of the new 2024 Subaru Outback will remain, so it will cost around $28,000. A more premium Outback Onyx Edition will cost above $35,000 and the Wilderness trim level will cost above $40k. The sales of the next Outback model will begin next summer, reportedly.
