The testing of the newest 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class is underway, and we can expect the facelifted version to be revealed sometime in 2023. In case you didn’t know, the GLA is the firm’s smallest SUV that will reportedly receive a series of updates. The styling revisions, as we saw on the first spy shots, will be mild.
Despite the heavy camouflage, we notice a front grille that’s reshaped, and it looks similar to the A-Class hatchback on which the GLA is based. Basically, both models are sharing the same MFA2 architecture, as well as the car’s suspension setup that’s tweaked on the GLA model.
2024 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class Upgrades
The new spy shots of the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class reveals a facelifted version that has some mild upgrades. The styling revisions are not quite visible, especially on the front bumper and tailgate.
Both front and rear are camouflaged, but even so, we saw some changes. First of all, the front grille will be reshaped wearing the same pattern as we saw on the recently introduced A-Class. Also, the headlights will be subtly redesigned, and we expect to see a new graphics as well.
Elegant Cabin
Despite the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class is the cheapest SUV in the lineup, it doesn’t give that feeling inside. The cabin is elegant, and the materials generally can match those of a more expensive SUV. Like the outgoing model, the new 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class can comfortably seat up to four adults with a good amount of headroom and legroom.
The cargo space behind the rear seats is tight, so if you’re looking for a better option, the BMW X1 is an answer. On the technology side, we recommended stepping up into an Premium Package that adds SiriusXM, a 10.25-inch infotainment system and a 10.25-inch digital gauge cluster.
2024 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class Engine Options
Under the hood, the 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class could stick with the outgoing car’s range of powertrains using the same eight-speed automatic gearbox. From the information that we got, expect better efficiency and some calibration tweaks. We expect this model to use as standard a 1.3-litre petrol engine, producing around 160 horses. The next one is a 2.0-litre diesel unit with either 150 horses or 187 hp setup.
The most efficient is a plug-in hybrid version that combines a 1.3-litre petrol engine with an electric motor. Thanks to that, it delivers 215 horsepower total output. The AMG is the top of the range, and it produces 302 hp, while the GLA 45 around 410 hp.
Is There a New Mercedes GLA Coming Out?
The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class GLA has been caught testing recently, wearing more attractive styling compared to its predecessor. We expect the updated model to launch as a 2024YM, sometime in 2023. The current Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 is around $36,400, while 4Matic all-wheel drive (AWD) another $2000.
The AMG GLA 35 and AMG GLA 45 are the most expensive models starting at $47,950 and $54,950, respectively. As before, the top rivals of the GLA-Class are models such as the BMW X1 and the Audi Q3. It is worth noting that both models have a lower starting price.
