Toyota will reportedly introduce a new SUV called the Grand Highlander next year. While the Japanese automaker hasn’t officially said anything about the forthcoming 2023 Toyota Grand Highlander, we got information that it would be much bigger compared to the current 3-row Highlander SUV.
If this proves to be accurate, the new SUV will probably slot somewhere between the Sequoia and larger Jeep Grand Cherokee models. We also heard that it would be available with the same 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine that can be found in the standard Highlander. A hybrid powertrain is a second option, and it could consist of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine capable of producing 244 horsepower.
2023 Toyota Grand Highlander Design
On the cosmetic side, the forthcoming 2023 Toyota Grand Highlander will keep the same body lines as the regular Highlander model. Naturally, it will be bigger, and it will provide a longer wheelbase as a result. In terms of size, the Grand will be somewhere between the Sequoia and the larger Jeep Grand Cherokee L models.
However, unlike the standard model, we expect the new Highlander to feature some refreshments like new bigger wheels, more attractive front fascia with a larger grille, and potentially some new exterior paints as well.
First Look Inside
Unlike the base Highlander, the 2023 Toyota Grand model will provide more room than you can imagine. In case you didn’t know, the current Highlander lack of rear-seat legroom, which could be fixed with a longer version. We expect three-row of seats and increased back passenger legroom and luggage room.
The current model offers 84 cubic feet when all seats are flat, so expect at least 100 cubic feet with the Grand version. When it comes to interior technologies, there is no doubt the manufacturer will introduce some of the advanced ones. We expect as standard Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, and SiriusXM.
2023 Toyota Grand Highlander Engine Specs
At the time of writing this post, the manufacturer didn’t reveal any specs of the 2023 Toyota Grand Highlander. However, from rumors, it seems the upcoming SUV might use the same powertrain as the smaller version.
This means we can expect a potent 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine that produces 295 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. Beside this engine, we also got information that the second and optional one could be a hybrid powertrain. This model will use a large battery paired with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. Thanks to that, expect it to produce around 244 horsepower.
2023 Toyota Grand Highlander Release Date, Price
Because the new Toyota Grand Highlander is still in works, we don’t know its exact debut date. In general, many believe that it arrives sometime next year, while we assume that it will debut in September. At this time, we also expect models such as the Toyota Tundra and Tacoma trucks to be introduced as well.
The price of the new and bigger Highlander will likely start at $40,000. The current smaller Highlander costs $35,000 for the base L FWD model.
