The upcoming 2023 Nissan Murano is a mid-size SUV that will adopt many design cues from the recently introduced Ariya electric SUV. We just got some of the first renderings, and we must admit, the new Nissan Murano looks much different than before. It features a more futuristic look, and it will reportedly come with a more roomy cabin. As before, we expect this model to offer comfort for all five passengers in two rows, leaving behind generous cargo capacity.
Like the previous generation, the new one will be powered by the same 3.5-liter V6 that develops 260 horses and 240 lb-ft of torque. This engine sends power via a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) to the front wheels. As far as we know, all-wheel drive is available on all Murano trims as optional.
Is Nissan Going to Redesign the Murano?
Murano’s current design has been around since 2015, but it was changed a bit over the past two years. The new 2023 Nissan Murano is a mid-sized crossover that offers a premium feel thanks to its stylish body. Nissan put design at the forefront, and it used this time more curvy lines, peppered with interesting details and trim shapes.
However, like the current generation, the new Murano comes with what Nissan calls a “floating roof” and Nissan’s “V-Motion” front end design. In general, we noticed some differences compared to previous models, and the latest Murano looks more futuristic. Other visible updates are LED headlights and taillights. The entry-level model comes with 18-inch wheels, while SL and Platinum trim should ride on 20-inch wheels.
Cabin Equipment
Inside, the new 2023 Nissan Murano will be modern and comfortable. For 2023, the manufacturer will make some improvements to keep up with rivals in its highly competitive mid-range. However, like before, this SUV offers five seats in pleasant surroundings, and it has cargo space of up to 67 cubic feet. In the same class, many competitors could carry more, and some offer the third line. If you need a third-row model, then the larger Pathfinder is a great choice to consider.
The Murano SUV is available in four trim levels: S, SV, SL, and the top-line Platinum. The least expensive Murano S includes dual-zone climate control, an 8-inch touch display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, push-button start, and much more. It also comes equipped with the latest Nissan’s Safety Shield 360 suite. It includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot warning, lane departure warning, and high-beam assist. The Platinum most expensive trim encases more luxury like semi-aniline leather seats with diamond-quilted inserts, a power-adjusting steering wheel, a dual-panel moonroof, and heated and cooled front seats, and so on.
2023 Nissan Murano Engine Specs
Nissan will once more equip this SUV with a 3.5-liter V6 powertrain capable of producing 260 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque. The continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) will come as standard as the front wheels from the available information.
All-wheel drive is available as well, but only optionally. In general, thanks to CVT, the Murano achieved excellent efficiency for a six-cylinder crossover. It’s EPA-rated at 20 miles per gallon in the city, 28 mpg on the highway, and 23 combined. On the other hand, the Nissan Murano’s towing figure is not so good, considering it can tow only 1,500 pounds. This is generally far away from its rivals in the class.
Release Date and Price
The new 2023 Nissan Murano will likely to reach dealers sometime next year. However, the manufacturer has not yet announced its price, but we expect the new model to cost much higher.
The current model has an MSRP of $32,000 for the base model, while the fully-loaded variant can reach $46,705. Nissan Murano will face competitors like the Ford Edge, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Chevrolet Blazer, and Honda Passport.
