South Korean car manufacturer recently stated that the new 2023 Kia Sorento is on the way. This model is very competitive in class, and it can provide almost the same comfort as the family crossovers like the Toyota Highlander and Ford Explorer.
On top of that, it looks attractive, and it features one of the most stylish cabins. Basically, even with the entry-level variant, there is a nicely designed interior. However, things are keeping getting better as you go up the trim levels. Beneath the hood, the manufacturer offers four powertrain options. The naturally-aspirated inline-4, a turbo-4, a conventional hybrid, and a plug-in hybrid.
2023 Kia Sorento Facelift
The new 2023 Kia Sorento is ready to bring some refreshments. The upcoming model will roll the new platform, and its chassis is 4 percent more tensile strength than before. Also, the manufacturer did some significant exterior overhaul and front fascia housing the stylish LED headlights and strong radiator grille.
The side profile is also attractive, and we firstly noticed strong lines, stylish 20 inches wheels, and curvier windows. The rear fascia is revised as well, featuring multiple LED taillights with a hidden windshield wiper. According to the manufacturer, the new SUV will have a longer wheelbase and higher ground clearance, ideal for off-roading.
Cabin Refreshments
Kia will indeed introduce more quality materials and better comfort. However, the 2023 Kia Sorento is not as significant as its brother Telluride, but it`s still an ideal family cruiser. Generally speaking, this model sits right in between a “crossover” and an “SUV”. As for the cargo storage, this SUV will offer more than 12.6 cubic feet with rear seats up.
However, folding down all seats down, it opens more than 70 cubic feet of cargo storage.
For infotainment, the manufacturer uses an 8″ screen as standard, but you can upgrade to the 10.3″ screen as well. On top of that, there is a 12.3″ instrument cluster and goodies such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM Radio, HD Radio, navigation, wireless phone charger, USB ports for all three rows, etc.
2023 Kia Sorento Powertrain Options
The new 2023 Kia Sorento offers four powertrain options. The base engine makes modest performance numbers thanks to a 2.5-liter inline-4 that delivers 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque. Literary, you can upgrades from this engine to the turbocharged version that makes 281 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque. Besides, there are two hybrid options.
The first one consists of a 1.6-liter 4-cylinder w/44-kW electric motor developing 227 horsepower combined. All-new is the Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV) model that uses a 1.6-liter inline-4 engine and 66.9-kW electric motor. This unit combined delivers an output of 261 horsepower. Kia stated that the PHEV model would go all-electric about 30 miles before the gas engine kicks in.
Release Date, Price
As we heard, it seems that the 2022 model will be skipped and that Kia will introduce a 2023 model year. Actually, we can expect the new 2023 Kia Sorento to arrive sometime next year, featuring completely revised front and rear fascia’s.
Also, four engines are available, starting from a naturally-aspirated inline-4, a turbo-4, a conventional hybrid, and a plug-in hybrid. We expect the Kia Sorento to start around $30,000 for the base model and to goes into the mid-$40k range when fully loaded.
