Last week Genesis unveiled the all-new GV70 EV model at Auto Guangzhou. As far as we know, the 2023 Genesis GV70 will be the third EV in the Korean luxury brand lineup. So far, the manufacturer planned for the following year to release the electrified G80 and the smaller GV60.
Anyway, the upcoming GV70 will reportedly use the same framework as the gas-powered version, but with some modifications. Thanks to that, the GV70 will be capable of place dual-motor and all-wheel-drive configuration. The whole system should provide a combined output of 483 hp and 516 lb.-ft.
2023 Genesis GV70 Facelift
In terms of design, the 2023 Genesis GV70 will be eye-catchy like its fuel-based counterpart. The differences between them are subtle. However, unlike the non-electric variant, the electric one dominates at the front, thanks to a closed grille. We also noticed on the side EV charging port and functional side air vents. The manufacturer says they updated the lower radiator grille, resulting in improved aerodynamics.
At the back, the GV70 looks no less attractive than at the front. Genesis made some changes on the rear end by removing the gas model’s exhaust outlets and diffuser. Anyway, we like the new GV70 EV Atacama Copper Matte exterior paint.
First Look Inside
The electrified 2023 Genesis GV70 will share its interior with its gasoline-powered counterpart. That means it will provide the same impressive design and upscale ambiance. Interior space will be acceptable for compact-SUV class, and we can expect the same cargo space as in case with the gas model. Unfortunately, Genesis didn’t yet reveal specifications about the GV70’s trunk.
Stepping into this SUV, you’ll first notice a large widescreen infotainment display that stands on the dash, and we can expect it to use the latest version of Genesis’s software interface. As standard, this model will include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The powerful Lexicon stereo system will probably be on the options sheet.
2023 Genesis GV70 Specs
According to Genesis, the forthcoming GV70 will only be available with a dual-motor and all-wheel-drive configuration. They claim that each motor (one is mounted at the front axle and another at the rear) develops about 215 hp and 257 lb.-ft of torque.
Generally speaking, the whole system will deliver combined output of 483 hp and 516 lb.-ft. Genesis also reveals information about acceleration time, and the GV70 will be able to run from 0 to 62 mph in a mere 4.5 seconds. While Genesis didn’t yet reveal battery size, we heard the Electrified GV70 will deliver approximately 249 miles of range. It will also be able to handle up to a 350-kW charge rate, resulting in 10 percent to 80 percent in little less than 18 minutes.
Release Date, Price
The 2023 Genesis GV70 will go on sale next year, most likely in the summer. Besides minor exterior changes, the forthcoming SUV will be electrified.
Genesis claims that with two powerful electric motors and a large battery, the GV70 will deliver approximately 249 miles of range. Unfortunately, price is not yet available, but some experts presume it will cost no less than $65,000.
