The new 2022 Mercedes-Benz G-Class 4×4 Squared was spied testing recently. If you didn’t know 4×4 Squared means that the axles of this model do not connect to the center of the wheels like most vehicles. Generally, the manufacturer lifted suspension that results in greater ground clearance.
The all-new model besides that will look sporty and it should still wear nameplate G 550 4×4 Squared in the United States. However, this model in Europe is called G 500. According to Germans manufacturer, the new SUV will arrive next year as the 2022YM.
2022 Mercedes-Benz G-Class Styling
As we already mentioned, the upcoming 2022 Mercedes-Benz G-Class was spotted undergoing testing for the first time this year. The new images reveal that G-Class is strolling on German public roads without a zero camo. The design of this SUV remains almost the same as before as the grille. However, we can see some small changes that enhanced its design. Obviously, it looks like the old model, but the proportions are slightly different.
The newer G-Class is visibly wider and we like its more significant fender flares. Also, the front face is more modern thanks to those deep-set LED lights. The new model features a roof rack and two auxiliary lights upfront. We can also see a full-size spare wheel affixed to the tailgate. Whatsoever, if you need a significant off-roader, this model is real deal thanks to its lifted suspension.
Luxury Cabin
Inside, the new 2022 Mercedes-Benz G-Class looks modern and stylish. The German manufacturer makes a more upscale cabin and added plenty of soft-touch materials. Basically, the luxury inside has been heightened. The manufacturer replaced traditional instruments with an attractive and easy-to-read digital screen.
Also, the new Mercedes-Benz is equipped with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a sunroof, a 360-degree camera that helps when parking the G in tight lots. You can also enhance design inside going for the exclusive interior package that includes diamond-stitched Nappa leather, a Designo headliner, and front seats built-in massagers.
2022 Mercedes-Benz G-Class Under the Hood
There is still no information what will be under the 2022 Mercedes-Benz G-Class. Many speculations are suggesting that this model will be elevated to Mercedes-AMG levels of performance. If this rumor is accurate, we believe that the G500 and G550 models will serve as the basis for this off-road leviathan. Nevertheless, both models are available with a 4.0-liter V8 engine that uses turbos.
The lesser model with the engine above can deliver 421 PS (416 horsepower) and 610 Nm (450 pound-feet) of torque. Thanks to this engine, the G500 can accelerate in 5.9 seconds to 100 kph (62 mph). The more powered model AMG is a puncher. This one with the 4.0-liter V8 makes 585 PS (577 horsepower), 850 Nm (627 pound-feet). Unlike the lower engine, this one runs from 0 to 62 mph in just 4.5 seconds.
