2020 VW Atlas Review, Changes

The upcoming 2020 VW Atlas is an attractive seven-seat mid-size SUV. Volkswagen provides a great level of comfort across the three rows of seats. On top of that, Atlas comes with the best-in-class warranty and the price is affordable. The 2020 model will get a small price increase thanks to the latest upgrades.

The exterior will get sharper updates and interior will be even more tech-rich. The cabin will remain spacious, which includes the cargo area as well. One of the highlights will be a hybrid drivetrain, but this information is not confirmed yet. On the other hand, new Atlas Cross Sport trim is certain.

2020 VW Atlas Exterior Structuring

The arriving mid-size SUV will look even better this time. However, the 2020 VW Atlas won’t get significant upgrades. The rectangular grille is slightly larger and headlights are reshaped. The front fascia now looks more unique and side profile now comes with sharper lines. You can spot similar lines on the Skoda Kodiaq SUV.

In the back, taillights are looking very modern and chrome accents are more visible. Aluminum wheels, new tires, and new roof rails are available now as well. Power Tailgate is optional, just like the panoramic sunroof. Volkswagen offers numerous trim levels and appearance packages. Thanks to those packages, you can make your SUV more aggressive and sportier.

The all-new 2020 VW Atlas offers very upscale cabin. The new model will get further modernization. That includes new features and an updated infotainment system. Volkswagen’s virtual cockpit is similar to Audi’s cockpit. Of course, the all-digital instrument cluster is present once again. The steering wheel is sportier and it comes with a flat bottom. On top of that, there will be more buttons on the steering wheel.

The infotainment system is up to date and displays will stay intact. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available as standard. A premium Fender sound system with 12 speakers is optional. There will be three rows of seats and a room for seven. Comfort is more than good and the seats are very supportive, especially the front seats. Leather upholstery is optional, along with the heating and cooling options for the front occupants. Design of the cabin is unique and Volkswagen will add more chrome and wood accents.

Under the hood, Volkswagen won’t introduce any changes. The 2020 VW Atlas will continue to deploy a standard 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. This unit is producing 240 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. A 3.6-liter V6 is optional and it provides 280 horses. On top of that, we can expect further improvements in terms of torque level. According to latest reports, optional V6 will deliver around 300 lb-ft of torque.

A 4Motion AWD system is available, along with the numerous driving modes. That includes modes such as Normal, Eco, Sport and Off-Road.

Hybrid Version Rumors

The 2020 Atlas could arrive with a hybrid powertrain as well. The German automaker will deploy optional V6 with the pair of electric generators and battery pack. Total output will be rated at 360 HP and 400 lb-ft of twist. However, this is still just a speculation for now.
