The 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport will arrive with plenty of refreshments. Land Rover already announced most of the changes and upgrades. For the start, this SUV will get more technology and the all-new mild-hybrid engine. Discovery Sport will arrive in the U.S. this summer.
While we can’t call it a redesign, the exterior will get some significant changes. Interior will get a complete overhaul which includes new upholstery. Under the hood, this SUV will keep its engine options. However, the hybrid system is perhaps the highlight of the 2020 Discovery Sport.
Exterior Facelift
Land Rover will install plenty of refreshments. The exterior design will look very modern and upscale. Some changes are minor and barely visible. On the other hand, some changes are very significant. For the start, a new set of headlights is available. The 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport will get angular headlights and LED running lights are moved slightly lower.
The front fascia looks simpler and thin inlets are now placed vertically. The rear end will get similar upgrades. Square-shaped taillights are new as well and rear bumper is also looking simpler. As for the dimensions, the 2020 Discovery Sport won’t change at all. That means the SUV will remain 181 inches long.
Land Rover Discovery Sport Interior Updates
The mid-size crossover SUV will offer a room for five or seven passengers. Interior will get a complete overhaul. The 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport comes with new Lutex upholstery. Recycled polyester microfiber materials will provide better comfort than before. A 40:20:40 split second-row seats will now provide cup holders for the third-row occupants. Land Rover will also offer plenty of new technology. Moreover, we can expect more safety features.
However, most of the new high-tech features will be optional. That includes a wireless charging and the additional 12-volt USB ports. Center console is revised and it sports a 10-inch infotainment display. The multi-function steering wheel is upgraded and it hosts more controls. The smart rearview mirror comes with a video feed now. When it comes to driver-assistance features Discovery Sport offers plenty of them. Adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist and the autonomous emergency braking are all standard now.
New 48-volt Mild-Hybrid System
The upcoming 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport will keep its current engine. It is a 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged gasoline unit. It can produce 246 hp and 250 lb-ft of torque. Now, Land Rover will finally introduce a 48-volt mild-hybrid drivetrain.
This output will deploy a combination of the current engine and a single electric generator. The hybrid drivetrain will deliver up to 296 horsepower. Unfortunately, Land Rover didn’t specify the fuel economy specs. More details will become available in the coming weeks.
2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport Price and Release Date
The price of the 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport will be higher this time. Whatsoever, the price will now be closer to the $70,000. On the other hand, the base model will start at $42,000. The mid-size SUV will go on sale this summer. Land Rover will provide exact specs and pricing details in the coming weeks.
