The upcoming 2019 Suzuki Vitara is a subcompact crossover that will benefit from numerous upgrades next year. Moreover, some changes are significant, both in the aesthetic and mechanical departments. At the very first look, an exterior facelift is not that visible, but upgrades are far from subtle. The interior will get more upscale materials and the instrument cluster will get an upgrade.
However, the biggest change will happen under the hood. The 2019 Suzuki Vitara will offer two engine options, but the 1.6-liter engine will not make a production. This unit will be replaced by a smaller 1.0-liter drivetrain. While not that powerful, this engine should provide great fuel economy figures.
2019 Suzuki Vitara exterior upgrades
The all-new 2019 Suzuki Vitara will host plenty of upgrades. As a result, this crossover looks better than before, but some changes aren’t that notable at first glance. For the start, a new front grille is in the offer. The grille is similar to the current one, but Suzuki says the new one evokes the Japanese spirit. Furthermore, the new front bumper is added and is slightly bigger than the older bumper.
New LED headlights are available as standard and the taillights will also get an LED technology. Thanks to that, the rear end looks more modern and sharper. To the sides, the only change is the fresh design of the alloy wheels. The Japanese carmaker will introduce two new exterior paints as well. Generally, the upgrades are simple but effective as the shape and dimensions are still the same.
2019 Suzuki Vitara interior is improved and looks classier and more elegant
The interior will also see a lot of improvements. The layout of the seats will remain, but the overall design is evident. The technology features and systems are up to date so the Vitara offers only modern amenities now. Moreover, the instrument cluster will also suffer a redesign. The cluster isn’t that spartan as before and it creates a perfect combination with the new color display. The cabin looks classier and more elegant.
When it comes to elegance, the 2019 Suzuki Vitara gets more upscale materials. That includes both upholstery materials and soft-touch surfaces. Even that the most of the surfaces are done in plastic materials, the feeling is great. Leather upholstery is optional and the dashboard will get a better look and more leather wrap-ups.
The Vitara crossover comes with a great safety rating. Now, the arriving model will get even more safety equipment that will be standard. However, if you want a 5-star safety rating, you’ll have to opt for the range-topping Vitara SZ5 trim. This model adds new aids such as automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning.
Moreover, a dual sensor brake support, blind spot monitoring, and traffic sign recognition are available too. The list of the advanced features ends with the rear cross traffic alert.
2019 Suzuki Vitara powertrain options
The 2019 Suzuki Vitara comes with two engine choices, and one of them is all-new. A 1.0-liter unit will replace the aging 1.6-liter engine. The new 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged Boosterjet drivetrain can produce 109 horses and 125 lb-ft of torque. Those numbers aren’t that great, far from that. But according to Suzuki, this engine will provide great mileage. This engine is standard on lower trims and it will provide 44 mpg combined. Also, the CO2 emissions are scaled at 121g/km.
The optional 1.4-liter four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine delivers 138 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque. Those figures are just enough for such a compact crossover. Both engines are available with the Suzuki’s latest AllGrip four-wheel-drive system. Furthermore, both manual and automatic transmissions are in the offer. The 2019 Vitara will be offered across the whole world, so some markets could get a diesel drivetrain. Unfortunately, Suzuki didn’t announce anything about the diesel variant right now.
2019 Suzuki Vitara Sport
The 2019 Suzuki Vitara Sport or Vitara S is a sportier version that will hit the markets in the near future. This variant will cost above $30,000 and it will offer a higher level of comfort. Moreover, the performance will get a slight boost. The exterior looks very sporty and more aggressive than the regular Vitara.
Vitara Sport will use the same 1.4-liter Boosterjet engine that will deliver slightly better performance than on the base model. 17-inch wheels, leather seats with red stitching and much more are available as standard.
2019 Suzuki Vitara price and availability
We’ll have to wait a little bit more for the complete specs and details. That includes the price as the 2019 Suzuki Vitara will surely cost more than the current model. New color options, new engine, wheel design, interior boost, and other changes will for sure raise the price. This subcompact crossover will cost around $22,000.
The price stands for the base trim called “SZ4”. The mid-range SZ-T will cost around $25,000 and the SZ5 models are priced at almost $30,000.
The new Vitara will compete against the Nissan Juke and Honda HR-V. The European markets will get new Vitara in the coming days. The U.S. markets will have to wait a couple of months longer.
