The forthcoming 2019 Mazda CX-7 is making a comeback. This model was the first company’s mid-size SUV and it was first launched back in 2006. However, the production of the CX-7 has come to an end in 2009. After that, the CX-5 model is jumping in and replacing the CX-7 SUV.
Now, the 2019 Mazda CX-7 will hit the roads again and it will look brilliant. The exterior will mix the styling of other company’s models and even some minivan cues are visible. On the other hand, we can say the exterior looks unique, while the interior will bring some astonishing features as standard. Moreover, the interior is large enough to accommodate seven persons and new Mazda’s SUV will offer two efficient drivetrains.
2019 Mazda CX-7 wearing company’s famous KODO design language
During the time when this SUV was present, the CX-7 was one of the best-looking models for sure. Unfortunately, the Japanese carmaker can’t release the same model just like that. For that reason, the 2019 Mazda CX-7 will arrive with a completely new look that looks modern, stylish and dynamic. A whole exterior is made in a company’s famous KODO design language. That includes an all-new grille and front bumper and thanks to that, the SUV looks aggressive and bolder. The headlights are slimmer and are looking really modern. With that in mind, the front end sports the same design language as most of the Mazda’s cars and SUVs.
The side profile adds beautiful character lines and the sculpted fenders. The rear part will also get the bigger bumper and thinner taillights. Unlike its predecessor, the 2019 Mazda CX-7 is larger and wider SUV which will also create additional interior room. Moreover, Mazda says there won’t be any new platform and CX-7 will ride on a CX-5’s architecture. The weight is significantly reduced and the aerodynamical look will provide even better fuel economy and overall performance.
2019 Mazda CX-7 interior changes
The interior of the all-new 2019 Mazda CX-7 provides great comfort and the upscale feel. The cabin is really inviting and pleasing, and moreover, the technology department is astonishing. The CX-7 is a 7-passenger SUV and thanks to the latest dimensional changes, headroom and legroom are ample. Plenty of new features and designs are visible. For the start, the dashboard suffered a complete redesign, along with the instrument panel. A 7-inch touchscreen is all-new and is standard. Mazda provides the latest version of the infotainment system that is user-friendly like never before.
While we wait for specific details, Mazda claims that the CX-7 SUV will get a long list of standard amenities. We can’t imagine what will upper trims offer then. Cloth upholstery is standard and leather upholstery is optional. Furthermore, the Bose audio system is optional on the base model and standard on the Touring and Grand Touring models.
Safety is great thanks to the ActiveSense safety suit. This package includes latest safety aids such as rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, and lane keep assist.
2019 Mazda CX-7 powertrain
There is no official news about the drivetrain lineup of the upcoming 2019 Mazda CX-7. However, according to the latest speculations, this SUV will get a pair of similar and efficient engines. The base model will get power from the proven 2.5-liter SkyActive unit that delivers 155 horsepower. Moreover, a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine will be available in upper trim levels. Reports are suggesting figures over 200 horses, probably almost 250 HP.
On top of that, Mazda will offer both manual and automatic transmission and both front and all-wheel-drive setups. Fuel economy figures are expected to be slightly above the CX-9 model, around 26 mpg combined. Thanks to the latest changes and improvements, the 2019 CX-7 can tow almost 3,000 pounds.
The 2019 Mazda CX-7 will get a diesel powertrain for some specific markets such as Australia and probably U.S. However, another drivetrain could hit the production, and it is a hybrid variant. To this day, this is a pure speculation, but it is not a science-fiction. The plan of the Japanese carmaker is to electrify some of the most-established vehicles in the coming years.
Whatsoever, the CX-7 model could be among them. We believe that Mazda will look to pair a standard 2.5-liter engine with the one or two electric motors. Thanks to that, this SUV will for sure see some improvements in overall power and fuel economy.
2019 Mazda CX-7 price
Mazda is still refusing to release specific details and that includes the pricing. What we know for sure is the fact that the 2019 Mazda CX-7 will arrive as a larger model than its CX-5 sibling, so it will cost more, logically. Whatsoever, don’t expect the price below $25,000. Furthermore, the price around $30,000 seems to be the more realistic outcome.
2019 Mazda CX-7 release date
First reports suggested the SUV will go on sale later in 2018, but that is very unlikely. Instead, we can expect the CX-7 model to roll out in the first half of 2019.
