The next-generation 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan has been spotted testing without camouflage. First impressions are positive, and judging from the first images of the testing mule, the front is completely new. It features a close grille, which indicates that we are looking at the new electric version that was rumored a few months ago.
The new Tiguan will like the current Mk8 use the same MQB Evo underpinnings, and it will also share the same powertrains, too. We’re expecting to see a high-performance Tiguan R variant, which should likely use the muscular 2.0-liter four-cylinder that makes 235kW. The same engine is powering the current Golf R.
2024 Volkswagen Tiguan Design
First and foremost, the spied 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan shows a completely new front fascia. Also, we noticed a new front bumper, a broader radiator grille, and visually better-LED lights. Alloy wheel designs are changed as well, and now sizes ranging from 17 to 20 inches in diameter.
On the back, the Tiguan lettering is visible on the tailgate, located right below the new thin-font VW logo. Finally, the manufacturer added a real exhaust system, which is not visible. The SE R-Line Black is the most favorite option, which brings a sportier look thanks to 19-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, and a headliner all painted in black.
2024 Volkswagen Tiguan Interior
Just like the exterior, the interior of the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan will be completely new. In general, we’re expecting the seating layout to remain unchanged, which means, there should be enough room for five passengers. However, seats will be more supportive and expect fine leathered on upper trims.
The second-row seat, which can be split 40/20/40 and folds flat, is allowing the great cargo space, which goes from 12 to 65.3 cubic feet. For all-wheel drive, those numbers change to 37.6 and 73.4 cubic feet. On the technology side, the new Volkswagen Tiguan will reportedly introduce a larger infotainment system, which should replace the aging 8-inch display. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with keyless entry/ignition, heated front seats, Wi-Fi, and more. On the safety front, expect at least Front Assist (automatic emergency braking), Side Assist (blind-spot monitoring), and rear cross-traffic alert.
Engine Specs
The new 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan engine lineup will be probably borrowed from the current Mk8. The manufacturer will also introduce a new electric variant that should use two electric motors. Unfortunately, at the moment, VW didn’t reveal any figures about the upcoming EV model.
We also heard that there will be a high-performance Tiguan R variant, which could use the same engine as the Golf R. In case you didn’t know, the current Golf R comes with a muscular 2.0-liter four-cylinder that makes 235kW.
How Much Will the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan Cost?
The new 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan testing mule has been spied on, and we noticed many changes over the previous generation. Considering all that, we’re expecting the new SUV to be more expensive. The current Volkswagen Tiguan S starts at $22,295, while the SEL R-Line is $36,970. These prices are in the same financial bracket as the Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-50, Toyota RAV4, and Hyundai Tucson.
Moreover, it is worth noting that the Subaru Forester costs a few hundred less and it features an all-wheel drive as standard. The sales of the new-generation model will begin sometime next year, and before that, VW will release more details.
