2024 Mazda CX-9 Finally Rendered

The next-generation 2024 Mazda CX-9, aka the new CX-90, has been destined to be released next year. As far as we know, the forthcoming seven-seater three-row SUV will offer more luxury features than its current generation. It will also get better styling and probably some new engines as well.

All-wheel drive is likely to be standard across the range, just like the new turbocharged inline-six. A plug-in hybrid powertrain could be an option. There’s also speculation that the platform will be shared with the midsize two-row SUV CX-70. However, it is still unknown if the CX-90 will replace the current CX-9.

2024 Mazda CX-9 Design

We have some renderings of the upcoming 2024 Mazda CX-9, and it looks refreshed compared to the outgoing model. The new three-row SUV features athletic handling and a handsome appearance. In case you missed it, this is the flagship model that looks really attractive thanks to Mazda’s Kodo design language.

As far as we know, the Mazda CX-9 will sit on a new platform that will be shared with its sibling, the CX-70. However, judging from the renderings, the upcoming model will get some modifications, mostly on the front and rear. The front fascia has been updated with a new grille and better-shaped headlights. The rear is no less attractive, featuring new taillights and more attractive graphics.

What’s New?

As with the model before, we expect the new 2024 Mazda CX-9 to keep the same seating layout. This SUV offers enough room to accommodate seven passengers. The luggage area behind the third row remains unchanged and is 14.4 cubic feet, while with the two back rows folded down, the maximum cargo volume in the CX-9 is 71.2 cubic feet.

As for technology, we expect the new SUV to include large infotainment, keyless entry/ignition, leather-wrapped steering wheel, cloth upholstery, heated front seats, and an 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and 3-zone automatic climate control.

2024 Mazda CX-9 Engine Specs

From the information that’s available, it seems the 2024 Mazda CX-9 should be the first to use a new turbocharged engine. The word is of a 3.0-liter inline-six engine that is expected to be paired with a 48-volt hybrid system. In case you didn’t know, the same engine we recently saw on SUVs such as the BMW X5 and the Land Rover Range Rover Sport.

Besides this engine, we’re also expecting to see a plug-in hybrid variant, possibly delivering around 323 hp. This engine is currently used to power the European-market CX-60 SUV. It consists of an inline four-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and a 17.8-kWh battery pack. On top of that, we expect the CX-90 to come standard with all-wheel drive.

2024 Mazda CX-9 Price, Release Date

We don’t know at the moment if the new 2024 Mazda CX-9 will cost significantly more compared to the current generation. So far, this model has been offered in a few trim levels, including Base at $40k, Select at $42k, Preferred $44k, Preferred Plus at $46k, Premium at $48k, and the most expensive, Premium Plus at $52k.

However, considering that the CX-90 will be a new nameplate for the Mazda brand, it might introduce some new trims and packages. We expect the new CX-9, aka CX-90, to debut next year in the second half.
