The new 2024 Kia EV9 is the company’s first foray into the electric world. As far as we know, the production version of the EV9 will debut sometime this year, while deliveries to customers should start in 2023.
The forthcoming model will according to Kia share its platform with the Hyundai Ioniq 7, using dual electric motors. Kia releases some specs of the new EV9, and expect it to produce with a dual-motor setup up to 576 horsepower. Unfortunately, Kia hasn’t released information about the EV9’s battery size, but they claim that the range will be around 300 miles per charge.
2024 Kia EV9 Design
The new 2024 Kia EV9 combines all of Kia’s most successful models. It rides on a stretched version of the same architecture used on the EV6 hatchback. The manufacturer calls it a skateboard-like electric vehicle (EV) platform and is able to easily handle the battery, motors, suspension, and other parts beneath the car’s floor.
The design of this SUV is attractive and it has a similar line to the signature Soul hatchback EV6. However, the EV9 comes with a longer proportion and it has more sharp corners. Kia says that the upcoming SUV will be “about the same size” as the current Telluride model.
Futuristic Interior
Inside, the 2024 Kia EV9 looks way more upscale than the EV6 model. The new SUV will offer seating for six passengers across three rows of seats. According to Kia, the EV9 is the first SUV that is made of recycled materials such as reclaimed fishing nets and other discarded plastics. Thanks to that, the Kia made a very sustainable interior
On the technology front, the EV9 sports a large panoramic sunroof and a 27.0-inch infotainment display that supports all connections. Unfortunately, Kia didn’t reveal any information about what features will be available through trims.
2024 Kia EV9 Motor Specs
So far, KIA hasn’t released any information about the EV9’s battery size or motors. The brand’s smaller EV6 SUV uses a dual-motor setup, which makes up to 576 horsepower. Anyway, we’re expecting the flagship EV9 to produce more than 600 horses. The driving range according to Kia should be as high as 300 miles per charge.
Considering that the EV9 shares a platform with the Hyundai Ioniq 7, expect the new SUV to come with either rear or all-wheel drive. Kia claims it will also be able to charge on 350-kilowatt fast-charging stations.
2024 Kia EV9 Release Date, Price
The 2024 Kia EV9 is an all-electric SUV that will debut sometime this year, while sales should start in 2023. It is the first foray into the electric world after Kia announced its plan to release 11 new electric vehicles by 2026. Unfortunately, Kia has not released any information so far about the EV9’s pricing. Also, we don’t know what features will be standard or optional.
Anyway, we’re expecting the standard model to start at around $50k, while long-range at $55k, GT-Line around $60k, and the most expensive GT at about $65k.
