Great news, it seems that the upcoming 2024 Honda MDX will be the company’s first all-electric SUV. Honda didn’t reveal the name of the vehicle to anyone yet, but we are expecting it to be the upcoming MDX. From the information that’s available, the new SUV will use a popular GM Global EV Platform, and it should arrive in the U.S in the year 2023.
Although not many details have been released, it is expected that the MDX will be powered by GM’s Ultium Lithium-ion batteries and Ultium Drive electric motors. It should go head-to-head with the Tesla Model Y, so we’re expecting a range by the charge of 300 to 350 miles. The same range provides GM’s Cadillac Lyriq electric SUV.
2024 Honda MDX Exterior
Unfortunately, we don’t know yet what this model will look like. From some unofficial reports, the forthcoming 2024 Honda MDX should not differ too much from the original one. In fact, we are expecting some changes on the front fascia including a closed grille and a new set of headlights.
Likewise, the back of the new all-electric model should bring refreshed taillights and probably some mild changes as well.
More Modern Interior
Although not many details are available, we heard that the 2024 Honda MDX cabin will be completely new. Compared to an original variant, the EV model should introduce more quality materials and some advanced technologies. As before, this three-row SUV has enough seats to accommodate up to seven passengers.
The front seats are very supportive, and the ample side bolstering keeps the driver in place when going around turns at speed. The third-row seats are the best for kids and shorter adults. There are 16.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third-row seats, which can be boost to 71.4 cubes with seats down. The updated infotainment system is also part of its redesign, and the dual-screen setup has been replaced with one large display.
Standard driver assistance features of the new MDX should include a rearview camera, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, road departure mitigation, blind-spot monitoring, traffic jam assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and traffic sign recognition.
2024 Honda MDX Motor Setup
The forthcoming 2024 Honda MDX is expected to be an all-electric sharing the same system as the Cadillac Lyriq model. It should use the same GM’s Ultium Lithium-ion batteries and Ultium Drive electric motors.
Considering that there are many electric models available, the Honda MDX should go head-to-head with the Tesla Model Y. Because of that, we presume that the new SUV provides at least 300 to 350 miles on a single charge. However, not many details are available, but some rumors indicate around 350 horses of power.
2024 Honda MDX Price, Release Date
The new 2024 Acura MDX will reportedly cost similarly to the Tesla Model Y. The current model starts at around $50,000. In general, it is a step towards the MDX, which is going emission-free.
The forthcoming SUV will be on sale in the year 2023 as the 2024 model year. Besides an all-electric MDX, the Honda Prologue EV model will also make its debut sometime next year as well.
