Mazda has confirmed recently that the all-new CX-70 two-row SUV will arrive in the US next year. The forthcoming 2023 Mazda CX-70 should look much more attractive than any other CX model, and probably Mazda RX-Vision concept will serve as inspiration.
Styling-wise, there are some renderings available right now, and we must admit, the upcoming SUV looks unique. Exact details are not available at this time, but as far as we know, the CX-70 will be available in both rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive configurations. Mazda will surely use the next generation of six-cylinder powertrain and at least one plug-in hybrid setup. Here’s everything we know so far about the all-new SUV.
What Do We Know About its Styling?
The upcoming 2023 Mazda CX-70 will continue to use the same Kodo design language as the smaller CX-50 and other future Mazda’s models. As we said, some of the renderings are available, and the new CX-70 features the same sloping roof as the CX-50 model.
We also noticed an eye-catching front fascia, which comes with an attractive grille and tinny LED headlights. Despite front fascia, the side profile is also beautiful. Mazda this time added 17-inch black wheels, making this SUV look sportier. The CX-70 is significantly larger than the CX-30 and CX-50, so you can count on much more room inside.
Cabin Rumors
The interior of the upcoming 2023 Mazda CX-70 will be modern and spacious. According to existing information, this SUV will provide seating for five in two-rows. However, you can count on more space inside than we saw in the CX-7 variant. From some unofficial information, the cargo capacity of the CX-70 will be 30.8 cubic feet behind the second row, and that number can increase to 59.7 cubic feet, folding seats flat.
Compared to rivals in the same class, those numbers are equal to the 37.6/75.8 cubic-foot capacity that the currently Honda CR-V provides. Besides, the CX-70 will certainly be offered with a large infotainment system that will be placed on the top of the center console, just as we saw on the smaller CX-50 model. Additionally, we’re expecting a plethora of amenities to be available on upper trims.
2023 Mazda CX-70 Engine Specs
At this time, there is no official information regarding the engine specs of the 2023 Mazda CX-70. However, based on some leaks and rumors, the forthcoming model will probably use the next generation of six-cylinder powertrain that should deliver great output.
On the other hand, we’re also expecting at least one plug-in hybrid setup. Unlike the six-cylinder powertrain, this one will provide much better fuel efficiency and probably more horsepower as well. Both mentioned engines could use a six-speed transmission, and we should expect AWD to be at least optional.
2023 Mazda CX-70 Price, Release Date
The forthcoming 2023 Mazda CX-70 will reportedly hit the dealerships later next year, most likely in the fall. Despite many visual upgrades compared to the current CX-7 model, the new CX-70 should be powered by a completely different engine.
In general, we are still waiting to hear more details about the new model, especially for the variant that will use a PHEV system. The price is not available at the moment, but many presume that the base model will start at around $30,000, while the PHEV one could cost at least $10k more.
