The iconic 2023 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited will likely run into 2022 with no significant updates. The current Jeep Wrangler debuted in 2018, and it received some small exterior upgrades that make it more rugged. Unlike the two-door Wrangler, the Unlimited comes with a four-door and is significantly longer, offering a comfortable ride for five passengers.
From what we know so far, the manufacturer will mostly make some changes inside, and we can expect more quality materials, better technology, and lots of standard equipment as well. Like before, the Wrangler Unlimited will continue to be powered by the same standard 3.6-liter V6 engine, optional 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, 3.0-liter turbodiesel, and with naturally aspirated 6.4-liter V8. This long-expected Wrangler EV is also in the works though we don’t know when exactly it will enter production.
2023 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Design Changes
The exterior of the 2023 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited remains mostly unchanged. In general, its styling remains timeless and is the most recognized SUV since the Second World War. There’s no need for too many changes because this truck is an American icon. Like the previous variant, the new one comes with the same attractive 7-slot grille and rounded LED headlights.
The highlight is removable doors and a windshield that folds down. Compared to its 2-door stablemate, the 4-Door Unlimited is about 20 inches in length. The Unlimited model also comes with a folding soft top, with an option to upgrade to a black 3-piece hard top.
More Equipment Inside
The interior of the 2023 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is modern and especially sporty if you go for the Rubicon 392 model. Since the doors are removable, the Wrangler Unlimited is ideal for sunny days. As mentioned, the Unlimited is opposite to the base model because it offers a roomier cabin.
This SUV has a rear legroom of 38.2 inches compared with 35.7. Cargo space is great with 31.7 cubic feet behind, or 72.4 cubic feet when seats are folded. We recommended you to step up at least to the Sahara trim that adds more convenience features than the base Sport. This trim includes dual-zone automatic climate control, 7-inch infotainment display (an 8.4-inch unit is optional), satellite radio, and another USB port.
2023 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Engine Specs
The new 2023 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited will be available with a few engine options. There is also a rumor that the next-generation will be offered with an EV system as well. Anyway, we expect the same 3.6-liter V6 to power the base model. This unit delivers 285 horsepower and 260 lb.-ft of torque, and it sends power from a 6-speed manual transmission. There is also an option to get an 8-speed automatic transmission, then the same engine comes with a mild-hybrid system to optimize fuel economy.
The next option is a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that develop 270 horsepower and 295 lb.-ft of torque and comes with an 8-speed automatic as standard. Alternatively, buyers can also get a 3.0-liter diesel V6 that generates 260 horsepower. The engine of the Rubicon 392 is the most potent, thanks to a 6.4-liter V8 developing 470 hp.
When Can We Expect the 2023 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited?
The new 2023 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited will go on sale next year, likely before summer. Unfortunately, fans cannot expect anything significant because this model will be a carryover model.
However, expect some modifications inside and a lot of standard equipment. Sport trim is the base one that costs $33,225, while the Rubicon 392 can push the final price to $83K.
