The release countdown of the 2023 BMW iX1 has started, and we can expect the new electric SUV to debuts very soon. The German luxury model was teased yesterday as the third all-electric crossover (after the iX3 and iX models). For those who may not know, BMW published a couple of weeks ago spy photos of the prototype, which was caught testing in snowy Sweden.
However, if you prefer a good combustion engine, it seems that alongside an all-electric version, the manufacturer will also offer a X1 M35i that will deliver approximately 300 hp. Let’s jump straight to the review and see what kind of design we can expect with the new BMW iX1.
2023 BMW iX1 Design
Recent spy shots of the 2023 BMW iX1 showing a very attractive design with twin-eyed headlights and inverted L-shaped DRLs. We also managed to see a new kidney grille that seems to look boxier, giving the SUV a sportier look. Like the BMW iX3 that is blanked out with blue accents, expect the same on the BMW iX.
Also, flush door handles that we saw on the iX model are also available and likely be operable electrically with the press of a button. Unlike the standard BMW X1, the iX1 may also feature specially designed wheels that will be lighter, wrapped with new, noise-reducing tires. The BMW iX1 is almost the exact same size as the Audi Q3, Volvo XC40 and Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class. However, it’s also a little longer and taller than the BMW X2.
Stylish Interior
With strong exterior styling, comes a modern interior. The new 2023 BMW iX1 is the SUV that offers multiple ranges of options. From information that is currently available, the upcoming SUV will have a bespoke cockpit which could handle more advanced screens and HUD compared to the original X1 model.
We also expect to see the brand’s new-generation cloud-based navigation with the latest maps. The standard safety tech is forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors, lane-departure warning, automatic high beams, and adaptive cruise control.
2023 BMW iX1 Motor Specs
The new 2023 BMW iX1 is the company’s first model entry into the all-electric world. Reportedly, the new SUV will use a standard single-motor, which should produce 135kW of power. There will also be a version with dual-motor setup, translating all-wheel drive setup. This model will have a total system output of around 185kW.
Electric range is around 272 miles or 438 km on the WLTP cycle. Starting with the iX1 model, the manufacturer will introduce the X1 model as well, powered by gasoline, diesel, and a new plug-in hybrid variant. It is also worth mentioning that BMW iX1 would feature the same 400-volt system as the other upcoming BMW models, while an 800-volt battery should be introduced in 2025.
2023 BMW iX1 Release Date, Price
BMW will release all X1 models alongside the iX1 electric SUV toward the end of the year. The price of the base BMW iX1 should be around EUR 54,000 in the European market.
There are plenty of rivals available, and the iX1 will rival the Tesla Model Y, XC40 Recharge, and Mercedes EQB.
