2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge: Sweden’s First All-Electric Vehicle

Volvo is introducing its first all-electric vehicle. The approaching 2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge will go on sale later in 2020. According to Swedish carmaker, the price will start below $50,000. Volvo promises around 200 miles of driving range and over 400 horsepower. The recharge variant is based on the popular XC40 compact crossover-SUV.

Unlike the regular variant that uses a four-cylinder turbo engine, Recharge will deploy an electrified powertrain. Besides an excellent driving range and a lot of power, the AWD system is offered as standard. Volvo also says that the new model will be both quick and efficient.

Besides the powertrain, base XC40 and XC40 Recharge will depart in some other ways. The all-electric variant comes with a unique front fascia that replaces the traditional grille. Remember, the grille is not needed because there is no engine cooling. Just like on Tesla’s model, the 2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge also features front storage called the “frunk.”
