The 3rd-gen of the Toyota Fortuner has been officially confirmed. According to the latest media report, the 2022 Toyota Fortuner will be unveiled late in the year. Fortunately, we just got some of the renderings, and we must admit, Toyota did a great job.
Besides more attractive styling and plenty of premium materials, the manufacturer will also introduce the new electronic and electrical (ENE) architecture. That means Fortuner could get a new engine and probably a hybrid powertrain. However, as the previous version, the new one will retain the same body-on-frame construction.
2022 Toyota Fortuner Exterior Redesign
The main highlight of the third generation 2022 Toyota Fortuner is its refreshed design language. As we mentioned, this famous SUV is based on a new electronic and electrical (ENE) architecture. Also, it retains its body-on-frame construction and the same sharp lines. Generally, the most visual changes are present upfront.
The Toyota Fortuner looks more stylish, and the manufacturer revised its grille and added better headlights graphics. Basically, the most noticeable difference compared to the predecessor is the new chrome molding, which extends around modern LED daytime running lights, resulting in a more aggressive styling.
Interior Appearance
The forthcoming 2022 Toyota Fortuner is likely to get a completely new interior. Generally, we presume more comfort and a much better layout. This SUV comes in the configuration as the three-row seater, offering even enough room for passengers behind. Long story short, because of the new ENE architecture, we should expect a more spacious cabin.
Reportedly, the upcoming Fortuner will also feature a new central touchscreen of 7-inch or larger 8-inch variety with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration and the 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. The Fortuner could also ditch the same electric power steering (EPS).
Updated Driver Assistance System
The third-gen Fortuner will get a more Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) to stay competitive on the market. That means it will feature a lane departure warning, a pre-collision safety system, and cruise control that is also available in the second generation.
2022 Toyota Fortuner Powertrain Specs
As we mentioned, the 3rd-generation 2022 Toyota Fortuner will sit on the new electronic and electrical (ENE) architecture. Reportedly, Yoshiki Konishi, chief engineer at Toyota Motor Corporation, confirmed that the third-gen Fortuner would get some sort of electrification.
Konishi also pointed out that we can expect two hybrid powertrains. According to him, the Toyota Fortuner entry-level model will use a mild hybrid system, while the upper one would come with a stronger system. However, we should expect more details about engine specs and output numbers in the coming weeks.
2022 Toyota Fortuner Release Date and Price
Finally, the new 2022 Toyota Fortuner is coming, and it’s likely to debut this year as the 2022 model. From plenty of early reports, this SUV will receive a mild facelift, and it will sit on the new platform that allows use of electrification.
Yoshiki Konishi confirm that claim, revealing that Fortuner will be offered with at least two-hybrid systems. Pricing is still a mystery, but everything below $30,000 is acceptable.
