The all-new 2022 Mazda CX-50 is coming, and it will be a replacement for the existing Mazda CX-5 model. If you didn’t know, CX-5 is the most popular and reliable SUV on the market. The first generation was introduced in late 2012, and it lasts until 2017 when the manufacturer introduces the second generation.
Overall, both generations until now break many sales records. Interestingly, the Japanese company confirmed that the new generation would use the same platform as the last generation of Mazda6. That would make the new CX-50 suitable for receiving more significant engines, and opening doors for hybrids.
2022 Mazda CX-50 Renderings
The all-new 2022 Mazda CX-50 should continue to be modern and reliable SUVs like the CX-5. As the CX-30 that replaced CX-3, the new CX-50 will wear the same Kodo design language. Generally, this is one of the best-looking and sharpest SUVs in the mid-size segment. As mentioned, the Japanese company confirmed that the latest CX would use the same platform as Mazda6.
From some early reports, like the CX-5, the CX-50 will be available with many packages. Carbon Edition is the most popular, making this model more adorable. This trim features a black grille, black 19-inch alloy wheels, and Polymetal Gray exterior paint. Generally, we cannot wait to see this model wearing the most popular Soul Red Crystal color.
Interior Will Be Modern
The interior of the 2022 Mazda CX-50 will be more modern than on its sibling. However, the layout will probably remain the same, and expect a very decent cabin to accommodate five passengers. The current CX-5 is well-equipped, and it comes with a 10.25-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, cloth upholstery, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Moreover, more luxury can be found in Touring Preferred SV trim.
This model has all that you need starting with a power moonroof, a bigger screen, a premium Bose sound system, and much more. Carbon Edition should be available as well, offering a more sporty interior with many black accents.
2022 Mazda CX-50 Powertrain Rumors
According to the first information, the all-new 2022 Mazda CX-50 will share the same underpinnings as the latest Mazda6. Basically, thanks to this info, we can assume that CX-50 will be offered with four, six-cylinder, and at least one hybrid system. The entry-level model will most likely use a 2.5-liter SkyActiv-G four-cylinder petrol engine producing 184 horsepower. The next candidates are a 2.2-liter SkyActiv-D four-cylinder turbo-diesel with up to 223 horsepower and a 3.3-liter six-cylinder diesel.
Besides, the top of the offer will probably be a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder SkyActiv-X powered by a lightweight hybrid system. From some early reports, this unit combined should produce at least 250 horses. However, unlike the first two, the hybrid will be much more efficient.
