However, the more potent 2.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged comes optionally, and it develops 281-hp. Both units comes with the same eight-speed automatic transmission using an FWD system.
Hybrid and Plug-In Hybrid Options
The eco-friendly Sorento hybrid is available once again as well. This variant combines a turbo 1.6-liter four-cylinder gas engine and a 44-kW electric motor. Like the engines above, this one will also use a front-wheel drive only.
Kia will eventually offer a plug-in-hybrid that will have a turbocharged 1.6-liter, featuring a 66.9-kW electric motor. Unlike the models above, this one comes with an all-wheel-drive only using a six-speed automatic transmission. Kia also confirms that Sorento will be able to tow up to 3500 pounds.
2022 Kia Sorento Release Date and Price
The debut of the 2022 Kia Sorento will happen in the second half of 2021. From the first valuable reports, the new SUV should be more attractive, featuring many updates inside. However, because of that, the price will be slightly higher. Unlike the outgoing model that starts at $28,000, the new one will cost around $2000 more.
