One of the perfectly crafted SUV, the 2022 GMC Acadia, is getting a facelift for the next year. This fantastic family-friendly crossover is very known for its compact styling, and impressive spacious three-row interior. The current-generation Acadia was being released in 2017, and it was slightly smaller and lighter than the outgoing model. If you didn’t know, this model is using the same rigid chassis and suspension from the Cadillac’s flagship luxury sedan CT6.
However, from what we heard, the new model will keep the same proportions, but it will gain some radical mechanical changes, resulting in better fuel economy. Once again, buyers will have the opportunity to get standard four-cylinder, turbocharged four-cylinder or a more smoother V-6 engine.
2022 GMC Acadia Offers Remarkable Design
GMC Acadia looks more modern and urban than many SUVs in the segment. The new 2022 GMC Acadia will most likely continue with the same tradition, but with more visual highlights.
This SUV is recognized thanks to its large chromed grille, slim LED headlights along with wheel arches. Overall, Acadia looks muscular, and we like this design language more than we saw on corporate cousin Chevrolet Traverse. As mentioned, Acadia uses the same rigid chassis and suspension from the Cadillac’s flagship luxury CT6 sedan. However, the Denali is the most favorite trim, that besides better look, comes with shock absorbers, delivering a comfortable ride and excellent handling.
Interior Enhancement
Like before, we can expect 2022 GMC Acadia to feature the same upscale modern cabin, but now with more soft-touch surfaces. Acadia is a roomy SUV that offering three rows of seats, enough for adult-accommodating. On top of that, it comes with an upgraded Smart Slide system for easier access to the 50/50 third row. Thanks to that, folding the third seat bench down, it opens 12.8 cubic feet of base cargo space. Also, this can be expanded to a usable 79.0-cubic-foot maximum, folding second and third bench. The AT4 is off-road trim, which comes standard as a 5-seater, can also be ordered as a 6- or 7-seater.
In terms of techs, the Acadia will probably offer the same packages as the predecessor. That means the base GMC Acadia SL, will include tri-zone auto climate control, an 8.0-inch infotainment screen, keyless ignition, a Wi-Fit hotspot, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto and five USB ports.
AT4 and Denali Trims
The most equipped models in Acadia’s lineup of trims are AT4 and Denali. Both versions are well equipped. The AT4 comes with a twin-clutch AWD system, and it offers plenty of niceties including a leather-wrapped steering wheel.
However, Denali is the most expensive, featuring a head-up display, 20-inch alloy wheels, and wireless smartphone charging. On top of that, Denali also offers a more distinctive look thanks to the new lighting system and more chrome finishes on the grille.
2022 GMC Acadia Powertrain Improvements
Under the hood, the upcoming 2022 GMC Acadia should be available with the same three engines as the predecessor. However, according to many reports, all three engines will get some of the technology that will improve fuel economy by 20%. The GMC Acadia SL and SLE trim continuous with a 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine, which makes 194 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque. Next up is a more potent 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder that is offered with an SLT trim. This engine pumps out a fantastic output of 230 horsepower and a healthy 258 lb-ft of torque.
The last one and the top offering is a 3.6-litre V6 that develops 310-horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes standard with the AT4 and Denali, and it sends power through a 9-speed automatic transmission. All-wheel drive is also available, except in the base SL.
Towing Capacity
Like in the case with the previous model, the new Acadia’s maximum tow rating remains 1,000 pounds with the base engine, but it rises to 1,500 lb with the turbo 2.0. However, the V6 model is a leader in class with a 4,000 pounds of towing.
2022 GMC Acadia Release Date and Price
The next generation 2022 GMC Acadia will be available to purchase sometime in 2021. From what we heard, this family-friendly SUV will get some mild updates. Nevertheless, we can expect a slight price increase compared to the outgoing model.
The current Acadia starts at a little higher than $30,000, while the flagship Denali can pass the 50k mark.
