2022 BMW X8 First Look, Spy Shots, Renderings

The all-new 2022 BMW X8 is on the way. Actually, BMW has been testing a new coupe version on the public road, and we should expect plenty of improvements compared to its sibling X7. Thanks to a new batch of photos and exclusive renderings, the upcoming model looks more rugged, bigger, and modern than many SUVs in its class. From the information that we got, the new model will join the diminutive X2, the compact X4, and the mid-size X6 models sometime in 2022.

Interestingly, it will most than likely carry over some of the X7 engines. That would mean we will once again see a brace of six-cylinder petrol and diesel engines for entry-level models. Of course, the more powerful 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 is currently available in the X7 M50i, and it should also be available on the X8M model.

2022 BMW X8 Exterior

The 2022 BMW X8 is a new coupe-styled SUV that it’ll be built using the same underpinnings as the BMW X7. However, unlike its sibling, the X8 offers a more aggressive design that helps it to go against the rivals like Audi RSQ8 and Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 Coupe.

Moreover, the most noticeable change on the X8 comparing to the X7 is a coupe-like sloping roofline. Also, BMW’s massive kidney grille is present, as the large LED lamps with signature daytime running lights. Unfortunately, the back end of the new BMW X8 is under the heavy camouflage, but we noticed the taillights and exhausts equally to the X7.

Interior Rumors

On the inside, the BMW X8’s interior will be much more modern than in the X7. Unfortunately, at this point, the cabin has not yet been revealed, either in spy shots. However, we believe that it will be notably different from the X7’s cabin.

We can bet on a more large infotainment display and on the most up-to-date version of BMW’s iDrive software installed. Besides, expect more standard features and much better technology. As we mentioned, the new X8 comes with a lower roofline that will definitively cut rear headroom.

2022 BMW X8 Engine Specs

Under the hood, the all-new 2022 BMW X8 will probably use some of the existing engines. Although the spy photos reveal a hybrid sticker, which means the X8 will also use a plug-in hybrid system. Besides, we also expect the two non-hybrid powertrains from the X7 to carry over to the X8. That would mean an inline-six turbocharged as standard, producing 335-horses.

Also, a more muscular twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V-8 is on the list, producing 523-hp. This unit will be most likely to power the M50i model. Finally, we expect the X8 M performance model with a V-8 engine and at least 617 horses.

Release Date, Price

Next year, BMW will introduce X8 alongside some of the refreshed models. In addition, the manufacturer will redesign its fleet of SUVs, including X2, X4, and X6 models.

While the exterior design is more attractive than the X7 model, the interior has not yet been shown. Generally speaking, it’s not expected to look notably different from the X7’s cabin. The new flagship SUV will arrive next year, and we should expect to cost at least $80,000.
