2022 BMW X5 First Look

Judging from the new spy photos, the 2022 BMW X5 will receive some visual improvements. First of all, the design is much better than before, and some mild tweaks are happening.

The front fascia is revised, and the new BMW X5 hosts a more attractive twin-kidney grille and the same shaped headlights. BMW X5 always has a great blending of styles. Generally, it’s handsome, large, but not as massive as the X7. On the back, more changes are visible, and X5 now features longer taillights, the same that we saw on the latest X7. Spy photos also reveal a single chrome exhaust system on both sides, giving this model a sportier stance.

Interior Expectations

The interior of the 2022 BMW X5 is also likely to feature some updates. However, there are no available images to confirm what is updated. According to many reports, the next-generation X5 will feature a more upscale cabin and possibly a more advanced infotainment system with a larger screen.

As you probably know, the current X5’s standard tech list is longer than ever. This model includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 12.3-inch central touchscreen. It also comes standard with Apple CarPlay/Android Auto integration, navigation, and a 10-speaker/205-watt audio system with AM/FM/HD Radio.

Safety

The safety systems of X5 SUV has always been one of the best. So, expect frontal collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-departure warning to come standard.

2022 BMW X5 Powertrain Specs

It isn’t clear yet what powertrain will be used under the new 2022 BMW X5. From what we heard, the BMW is planned to make some improvements providing more efficiency and performance. The current X5 in the United States is offered with the choice of a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 producing 335 horsepower.

Alongside this powertrain, the manufacturer also offers a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V-8 producing 523 horsepower. X5 M is the most powerful model, spitting out 600 horsepower in standard guise and 617 horses in an X5 M Competition model. A hybrid version could be offered as well, albeit in minimal numbers. However, don’t expect an electric battery powertrain because BMW will fill that role with the new iX.
