The upcoming 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC is about to arrive, this time, with a minor facelift. It is a part of the mid-cycle refreshments as the new-gen model is scheduled for 2022. The upgraded model will go on sale later next year and it will surely gain even more sales.
Latest spy shots are available and new GLC looks even more impressive. However, both exterior and interior will introduce smaller updates only. As for the performances, Mercedes plans to keep things intact. That means we can expect two powertrain options in 2021 again. However, the second powertrain is available in high-performance GLC43 variant.
Exterior Facelift
The compact crossover will get a facelift. However, we are dealing with small exterior modifications. As we already wrote, the new-gen GLC will arrive in 2022. For that reason, the all-new 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC offers minor refreshments. The prototype model has been caught on camera and thanks to that, some things are clearer now.
The grille and headlights are revised and new daytime running lights are visible at first glance. Under the cladding, front fascia probably hosts a sharper design. Unfortunately, the rear end is still a mystery. On the other hand, we expect the same type of updates. Some reports are even suggesting a couple of new exterior features that will be optional.
Interior Will Host Minor Updates
From the inside, the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC will get numerous tech update. GLC won’t get the all-new dual-screen system that debuted on the A-Class. Instead, GLC will host the same system that is currently available. The larger display still sits at the top of the center stack and new touchpad is in the offer. This touchpad is a part of the center console.
The new steering wheel is available too and infotainment system is updated. The small crossover offers impressive two-tone interior color scheme, practical interior and plenty of space. We are waiting for the official interior details from German manufacturer.
Engine Specs, Transmission, MPG
The base GLC model is still using a 2.0-liter inline-four turbocharged engine. This unit will get more power so the 241 hp output is now rated at 255 hp. On top of that, the turbo-four engine delivers 275 lb-ft of torque. The rear-wheel-drive system comes as standard while you can buy an optional four-wheel-drive setup. A 9-speed automatic gearbox is very smooth and ride quality is super.
According to Mercedes, its new GLC will be off-road capable and for that reason a Dynamic Select drive-mode is available. Fuel economy is rated at 21 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway. High-performance GLC43 will use a 3.0-liter twin-turbo that will generate 385 horses, which is improvement over the previous 362 horsepower.
2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC Price and Release Date
The price of the 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC will now start slightly below $50,000. This compact crossover will look to rival BMW X5, Audi Q5 and new Lexus RX 350. The upcoming GLC will go on sale in the second half of 2020. According to numerous reports, new-gen GLC will arrive in 2022.
