The all-new 2021 Kia Sorento is bringing plenty of excitement. New model’s spy shots are available. The prototype of the new Sorento has been spotted in South Korea. Despite the heavy camouflage, most of the upgrades are visible at first glance. The 2021 model will firstly arrive in Asia. Shortly after that, this SUV will become available in North America.
Latest reports are saying that the 2021 Sorento will be the next-generation model. Significant upgrades will surely happen. Even the spy shots are showing numerous changes, mostly from the outside. Interior will also get plenty of updates and Sorento Hybrid model will become available too.
2021 Sorento Spy Shots
New spy shots are available. On top of that, numerous renderings were available before the spy shots. Interestingly, renderings are very close to the newest spy shots. The 2021 Kia Sorento will get the speculated changes and upgrades. The design looks more attractive and aerodynamics are improved as well. The next-generation Sorento comes with drastic updates and a more angular approach.
The result is a handsome crossover that looks both stylish and modern. The front fascia wears the “Tiger Nose” grille and new alloy wheels are available too. Upper trim levels will look even more premium. Whatsoever, optional features on the base model are standard on the range-topping trim level.
Interior Updates
The interior comes with more mystery. Heavy camouflage from the inside failed to hide most of the latest updates. However, the interior of 2021 Kia Sorento is not visible on the same spy photos. On the other hand, the next-gen model will surely provide a new cabin design. According to some reports, Sorento will borrow a lot from the Kia Telluride model.
The 2021 Sorento comes with three rows of seats and a room for seven persons. Kia will install more soft-touch surfaces and new upholstery. Comfort will be truly great, even in the base model. Dimensionally, Sorento remains the same. For that reason, the interior room will largely remain.
A new 8-inch touchscreen is now available as standard. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard too. Kia adds a rearview camera, new USB ports, and more safety features as well. Upper trims are available with standard leather upholstery, wi-fi hotspot, and much more premium amenities.
Engine Options
The forthcoming 2021 Kia Sorento will offer numerous engine options. A 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine remains standard. This gasoline unit generates 185 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. A 6-speed automatic gearbox is available. On top of that, the front-wheel-drive system is standard. Standard drivetrain delivers 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
Optionally, a 3.3-liter V6 produces 290 hp and 252 lb-ft of torque. This engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. FWD setup is standard as well. As for the fuel economy, the optional engine is rated at 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.
2021 Kia Sorento Hybrid
New Kia’ SUV will get its hybrid version as well. The 2021 Kia Sorento will offer both hybrid and plug-in hybrid variants. It is a result of the Kia-Hyundai collaboration. Sorento Hybrid will use a solar panel charging system that is visible on the roof of the new SUV. Unfortunately, exact powertrain specs are not available yet. If the rumors are true, the new model will hit the markets at the beginning of 2020. The 2021 Kia Sorento will be the next-gen model.
