2021 Infiniti QX80: All-Electric Variant, Release Date

Nissan’s premium brand, Infiniti, will release another QX80 model. All of the QX lineup looks really impressive and new QX-type of models will get numerous upgrades. The upcoming 2021 Infiniti QX80 will arrive later next year. This time, Infiniti will introduce new electric system known as “ePower”.

Literally, every automaker in the world is turning to the electric powertrains. Overall, this system has drawn plenty of positive response from the customers. However, QX80 will get some other sort of upgrades. For the start, this luxury SUV will get visual changes and interior will be even more premium.

Attractive Exterior Design

The full-size SUV definitely grabs attention on the road. Its size is perfect for larger families and longer trips are not an issue. The 2021 Infiniti QX80 will get a couple of exterior upgrades later next year. For the start, the enhanced grille is the most visible change. The front bumper is redesigned and it looks more aggressive. Headlights are looking very attractive and LED technology is available as standard.

QX80 SUV will ride on standard 20-inch aluminum wheels. New and optional 22-inch wheels are looking very premium. All-season tires are also in the offer. Infiniti will also introduce new exterior colors. Dimensionally, this model will largely remain. That means Infiniti QX80 is 209 inches long and 79 inches tall.

Interior is Nothing But the Luxury

We don’t have to dig into the luxury of the cabin. Infiniti is known for its premium interior design. The forthcoming 2021 Infiniti QX80 will also provide ample interior room. Synthetic leather seats are very comfortable and are available in a quilted pattern. On top of that, ambient lighting and ventilated front seats are standard. Dash is made of plastic materials, so some parts are still looking cheap. Still, it is a premium interior with plenty of standard equipment. Infiniti borrowed some cues from the jet planes.

There will be three interior schemes so the cabin is very customizable. Wood and chrome trims are providing luxury from the inside, especially wood accents around the center console. For 2021, QX80 will get a new infotainment system and more safety aids. As for the layout, there will be room for seven passengers. On top of that, the eight-seat layout is optional. All you have to do is to opt for a second-row bench seat.

Powerful V8 Specs, Transmission, Fuel Economy

Under the hood, new 2021 Infiniti QX80 will continue with the same 5.6-liter V8 engine. This unit is good for 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to such powerful figures, full-size SUVs tops 60 mph in 7.8 seconds. A 7-speed automatic gearbox is available and it provides a smooth ride. Still, powerful V8 is known for its poor fuel economy. It delivers 14 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway. This resulted in diesel powertrain speculations. However, that will not happen. Infiniti has something else to offer for 2021.

2021 Infiniti QX80 ePower

Nissan CEO Hiroto Saikawa officially confirmed that almost entire Infiniti’s lineup will be electrified before 2022. All models should get all-electric outputs and the 2021 Infiniti QX80 is no different. The all-electric system is called “ePower”. It is an unusual type of system and it is not a plug-in variant. It will use a gasoline engine to recharge the battery and not to deliver power (picture below).

Another likely outcome is the VC Turbo type of drivetrain. Infiniti announced it in its latest concept at the Detroit Auto Show. The Q Inspiration concept presented the VC Turbo engine, an advanced four-cylinder variable-compression unit. While it is official, we are still waiting for full details.
