After the start of the new generation in 2018, Traverse crossover didn’t introduce major changes. New 2020 model will discount one of the engine options on its RS variant. Now, the 2021 Chevy Traverse will finally introduce visual changes. We are not talking about redesign but still, the exterior will finally get a refreshment.
Thanks to the newest spy shots most of the upgrades are visible. Of course, mechanical changes are possible but there are no details about this outcome. The full-size crossover will continue to offer a four-door variant with three-rows of seats. On top of that, the interior will most likely suffer a couple of refinements.
2021 Traverse Spy Shots
New spy photos are available and we can see a heavy camouflage on the prototype. Some parts are perfectly hidden. However, most of the refreshments are visible. The 2021 Chevy Traverse will get a couple of visual refreshments. As a result, Traverse will arrive with the design closer to the rest of the Chevrolet’s lineup of crossovers. The front fascia will suffer a lot. The goal is to mimic the design of the new Chevrolet Blazer model.
Basically, all of the new company’s crossovers will follow the same path. That includes a new Trailblazer and Equinox model. Traverse is another model that will get the same look of the front part. A two-tiered lighting system looks striking and LED lighting signatures are thinner now. New fog lights are placed higher this time. In the back, new taillights are available. The side profile will largely remain and we still don’t know if Chevy will introduce new optional exterior features.
Interior Refreshments
We believe the interior will also get a couple of changes. The 2021 Chevy Traverse will once again offer plenty of trim levels. Interior layout will remain which means a three-row eight-seat configuration is still present. Chevrolet will surely deliver numerous updates for Traverse’s tech department. Besides that, we’ll have to wait and see potential design upgrades. Some reports are suggesting a redesigned dashboard and different steering wheel.
Whatsoever, the cabin will provide the same level of comfort as before. Seats are very supportive and full-size crossover offers generous interior room. Cargo area is rated at 98 cubic feet with the rear seats folded flat. A 7-inch touchscreen remains a standard option on the base model. Moreover, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available once again. Upper trim levels are offering standard leather upholstery, premium sound system, three-zone climate control and much more.
Performance, Fuel Economy, Transmission
We can’t predict mechanical changes for the upcoming 2021 Chevy Traverse. It is a possibility, but there is no confirmation about this topic. For that reason, a new full-size crossover will most likely arrive with the same engine lineup. That includes two powertrain options. 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline produces 255 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque.
This engine is standard, it comes with a turbocharger and it will use the same 9-speed automatic transmission. Fuel economy is rated at 23 mpg combined. Traverse’s optional 3.6-liter V6 is good for 310 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. This engine is also using the same 9-speed gearbox and it comes with an optional AWD system. While it produces more power, optional V6 delivers 21 mpg combined.
2021 Chevy Traverse Price and Release Date
The all-new 2021 Chevy Traverse will make a debut later next year. We believe the full-size crossover will hit the markets in the second half of 2020. The price will start at $31,000. Traverse offers numerous trim levels and the range-topping trim is priced at $54,000.
