Kia plans to introduce its new crossover by the end of the year. The 2020 Kia XCeed is based on the Ceed hatchback. According to the latest news, this model will be made exclusively for Europe, at least for now. It will slot above the Stonic model and below Sportage SUV. All trim levels will deploy an FWD configuration.
Whatsoever, the AWD system won’t be in the offer at all. The design will look very similar to the Ceed hatchback, but you can expect more muscles and more rugged appearance. Interior comes with ample legroom and generous cargo area. Under the hood, this model will ride on numerous engine options. That includes both gasoline and diesel engines. On top of that, a mild hybrid powertrain is very certain.
2020 Kia XCeed Design and Dimensions
Kia called it an “urban crossover”. However, we can’t spot a lot of urban things on the all-new 2020 Kia XCeed. It is basically the Ceed hatchback with a more rugged body and more muscles. Whatsoever, you can’t spot a lot of differences between the hatchback and crossover. Of course, dimensions are not the same. New XCeed is 173 inches long.
That is 3.3 inches longer than the hatchback model. New crossover is 58.7 inches tall and 71.8 inches wide. Wheels are ranged from 16 to 18-inches. The 2020 XCeed comes with a vibrant color known as Quantum Yellow. New XCeed also comes with a distinctive design and body cladding. Sleeker headlights and tiger nose grille are dominating the front fascia. Fog lamps are extended to the bumpers and faux skid plate is available as standard. In the back, tailgate looks rakish and taillights are looking very modern.
Most Cabin Features Are Borrowed From The Ceed Model
Thanks to larger dimensions, the 2020 Kia XCeed offers more room than the hatchback model. Interior is roomy for such a small crossover. That includes the ample legroom and generous cargo area. Most of the features are simply borrowed from the Ceed hatchback. Cabin noise is reduced to a minimum. Seats are very comfortable and the ride is quiet and pleasant.
A two-step cargo floor and power-operated tailgate are available as standard. The cabin looks modern and it comes with a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are in the offer too. On top of that, XCeed model will offer plenty of standard safety equipment.
Powertrain Options
Kia won’t deliver that many surprises under the bonnet. The upcoming 2020 Kia XCeed will offer numerous engine options. For the start, a 1.0-liter and a 1.4-liter turbocharged engine are available. Both units are borrowed from the Ceed hatchback. First gasoline output delivers 120 hp and 172 lb-ft of torque. The second output is producing 204 horses and 195 lb-ft of twist.
Even the diesel variant is available. A 1.6-liter cranks out 115 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque. The diesel engine provides even more torque with an automatic transmission, up to 220 lb-ft. All units are using a standard 6-speed manual gearbox. Optionally, you can opt for the dual-clutch 7-speed automatic transmission. The hybrid model will arrive at some point in 2020, a couple of months after the regular gasoline model.
2020 Kia XCeed Price and Arrival
Pricing details are not available yet. We predict the price to start at around $20,000. New 2020 Kia XCeed will rival models such as Toyota C-HR, Honda HR-V, and Ford Focus Active. Company’s newest crossover will arrive in the last quarter of 2019.
The hybrid model will hit the dealerships in the second quarter of 2020. According to the latest reports, XCeed will be sold exclusively in Europe, at least in the first year.
