Chevrolet has big plans for its lineup of crossovers and SUVs. One of the most anticipated models will be the upcoming 2020 Chevrolet Trax. After the newest spy shots emerged online, we must share out a disappointment.
New Trax will arrive with minor exterior upgrades. Also, the interior will surely get small updates and there won’t be any mechanical changes. However, the 2020 Trax will be slightly larger than the current model. Still, 2020 Trax should arrive with the same platform as the 2019 Trax model.
2020 Chevrolet Trax Exterior Changes
The forthcoming 2020 Chevrolet Trax was spotted during the road testing. Perhaps the biggest change will be Trax’s new dimensions that are slightly larger. However, the new platform won’t happen. That means the all-new model will ride on the same but tweaked architecture.
Previously, some reports were suggesting a new VSS-S platform. Some styling cues are taken from the company’s Blazer model. That includes the same C-pillar and windows. Taillights are slightly larger and the front end will get larger headlights.
Interior Updates
We don’t expect drastic interior changes as the current model already got plenty of them. Interior details are not available on the newest spy photos. However, don’t expect anything significant to change from the inside. The 2020 Chevrolet Trax will probably offer slightly more cabin room than its predecessor.
On top of that, most of the technology features and infotainment system will get an update. Trax is already offering plenty of standard equipment. The interior looks modern and it is a practical compact SUV. It offers soft-touch surfaces and optional leather upholstery. The current model offers 48.5 cubic feet of cargo space. The new model will probably offer a little more.
Powertrain Options
The all-new 2020 Chevrolet Trax won’t get a new engine as some rumors reported. That means the same 1.4-liter four-cylinder engine will remain the only drivetrain option. It produces 140 horses and 150 lb-ft of torque.
This engine offers a good fuel economy rating. Trax delivers 25 mpg in the city and up to 33 mpg on the highway. For the compact SUV segment, these numbers are above average. Front-wheel-drive setup remains standard and all-wheel-drive configuration is optional.
Midnight and Redline Editions
The compact SUV will once again offer numerous optional equipment and packages. However, Special Editions are something where buyers are extremely interested in. The most popular choice is surely a Midnight Edition. This package is available only on the range-topping Premier model. It offers a premium Metallic Black exterior paint and numerous blacked-out features. That includes black 18-inch alloy wheels, door handles, bumpers, and moldings. From the inside, black floor mats are standard.
Two-tone leather looks perfect. The seats are available in Black and Light Titanium colors. There is plenty of silver trims from the inside. If this is too expensive for you, the 2020 Chevrolet Trax has another solution for you. A more affordable LT trim is offering a Redline Edition. This special edition comes with numerous blacked-out features and it adds red stripes from the outside. The interior also comes with red contrast stitching. It looks sporty and very modern.
2020 Chevrolet Trax Price and Release Date
The price of the 2020 Chevrolet Trax will stay unchanged. That means the base model will cost $23,500. Premier model will be priced at over $30,000. Chevy’s newest compact SUV will go on sale this fall.
