Besides Audi’s e-tron model, the German automaker will also bring more hybrid vehicles to the markets. The 2020 Audi Q5 hybrid is perhaps the finest example right now. Audi plans to offer three plug-in hybrid models to the United States in 2020. That includes Q5, Q7, and Q8 models. At the moment, not all of the details are available.
The 2020 Q5 Hybrid will combine a gasoline engine and an electric motor. Besides the mechanical upgrades, Q5 offers further design changes. The exterior design will look more appealing and interior will suffer further modernization. Also, Q5 will offer new Sport variant as well.
2020 Audi Q5 Hybrid Exterior Design Looks More Aggressive
The upcoming 2020 Audi Q5 Hybrid won’t depart from the regular Q5 model. Some improvements are about to happen. Aerodynamics are improved and the new model will be lighter than its predecessor. The front part looks more modern as both the grille and the bumper are redesigned. At the back, taillights are also visually improved and the roof is more angular.
The shape of the hood looks sportier now and Q5 looks more aggressive than before. Q5 Hybrid comes with 14 different exterior colors. Also, you can choose between the 17, 18 or 19-inch wheels.
Cabin Design
Even bigger changes will happen from the inside. The 2020 Audi Q5 hybrid comes with a familiar cabin design. The layout will also remain. However, everything from the inside is new. Interior comes with a Virtual Cockpit gauge cluster. The dash is thinner and HVAC controls are slightly smaller. Center console is all-new, just like the electronic gear shifter.
The steering wheel is the same but it will add more buttons than before. A 12.3-inch TFT display comes as standard. The updated infotainment system comes with an 8.3-inch touchscreen. LTE Wi-Fi is optional, along with the wireless phone charger and premium B&O audio system. Rear seats are offering ample legroom and Q5 Hybrid offers plenty of packages. Cargo area is rated at 21.5 cubic feet. With rear seats folded flat, cargo area delivers 54.7 cubic feet of space.
Powertrain Variants
To this moment, German carmaker didn’t provide enough drivetrain details. So far, we know the 2020 Audi Q5 Hybrid will arrive with a turbocharged gasoline unit and synchronous electric motor. Also, 8-speed automatic transmission and four-wheel-drive will be in the offer. A 14.1-kWh lithium-ion battery pack will provide 25 miles of electric driving range.
However, European and North American models won’t deliver the same mileage. Audi will probably deploy a 2.0-liter turbo engine that will deliver up to 250 HP and over 400 lb-ft of torque. Still, we are not sure which output will be offered in the United States.
2020 Audi Q5 Hybrid Price and Release Date
Regular Q5 model will cost around $45,000. Prestige trim is priced at $52,000. SQ5 is a sportier variant that costs $55,000. Knowing these prices, the 2020 Audi Q5 Hybrid will cost around $50,000 or slightly more.
The newest Audi’s crossover will look to rival Lincoln MKC and Acura RDX models. Q5 Hybrid will go on sale in Europe later this year. This model will also arrive in the United States, probably in the beginning of 2020.
