The all-new 2020 Aston Martin Varekai is the company’s latest crossover SUV. This luxury model will arrive later this year. The production takes place in South Wales and first spy photos are already available. The upcoming Varekai model comes with something new in the Aston Martin lineup of vehicles.
It will look unique and attractive. The 2020 Varekai will arrive as a five-door model. The interior will look premium and practical. The engine is still a mystery. However, we can surely expect some sort of electrification. This model could also arrive under the name “DBX”.
Spy Photos – First Look
The exterior will look very handsome. Aston Martin will offer plenty of details and modern cues. This SUV will look like a taller hatchback. The front fascia is classic Aston Martin’s. The large grille and slim headlights are the company’s trademark. The 2020 Aston Martin Varekai will also look athletic and sporty.
Door handles are very unique and kinda strange-looking. In the back, the rear spoiler is extremely attractive. Whatsoever, you can find plenty of sportiness at the rear end. This SUV sports plenty of premium materials so you can forget cheap plastic claddings and similar materials.
Varekai Offers Luxury Cabin
Spy photos are not showing much of the interior. The 2020 Aston Martin Varekai is similar to the rest of the company’s SUVs, at least from the inside. The cabin is luxurious and very modern. Dash looks impressive and it looks closer to the dash of the DB11 model. Plenty of switches and buttons are present and the layout is hard to remember.
At least in the beginning. However, the interior is simple and practical. Cabin space is generous, especially the headroom, thanks to the sloping roofline. On top of that, longer wheelbase provides ample legroom. Frameless side windows are another unique styling cue. Some customers will like it, some other customers will find this as an issue. In general, this SUV looks quite astonishing and comfortable from the inside.
Engine Speculations
This is perhaps the biggest mystery so far. We still don’t know what engine will power the upcoming 2020 Aston Martin Varekai. A 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo is the main candidate. It can produce around 500 horses. This engine will probably become available as standard. That means the optional engine could be a powerful V12. However, this 700+ hp drivetrain is still just a speculation. On the other hand, some sort of electrification will surely happen.
According to reliable sources, Aston Martin imagined Varekai as an all-electric SUV. However, that will not happen, not in 2020. A hybrid drivetrain that will deploy a V6 gasoline engine and a pair of electric motors is a much greater possibility. Standard all-wheel-drive system and 8-speed automatic transmission are certain. It will be interesting to see what will Aston Martin deliver. After all, Varekai will look to rival some established and powerful models.
2020 Aston Martin Varekai Price and Release Date
The main rival of the 2020 Aston Martin Varekai will be Lamborghini Urus. For that reason, the price of the new model will start at around $220,000. On top of that, some rivals such as Audi Q8, BMW X6 M and Bentley Bentayga are also in the race.
Varekai could arrive under the name “DBX”. However, this information is yet to be confirmed. This SUV will hit the dealerships later in 2019.
