Alfa Romeo showed its latest concept vehicle that will ride on the same platform as the Fiat500X and Jeep Renegade. This small crossover will also become Alfa’s first plug-in hybrid model. The 2020 Alfa Romeo Tonale comes with sportiness and a hatchback-like exterior design. The ride is slightly taller and the stance is very sporty.
This crossover will look unique but it will borrow some cues from the famous Giulietta model. Also, some features are similar or the same as on the Stelvio model. Besides the plug-in hybrid technology, 2020 Tonale model will slot below the Stelvio model.
Hatchback-Like Design
The all-new 2020 Alfa Romeo Tonale is one very attractive crossover. Some cues are clearly borrowed from the Giulia and Stelvio models. However, Tonale crossover looks unique and handsome. The front fascia looks like any other Alfa’s model. That includes exotic headlights with LED technology. Front grille looks distinctive and it cuts deep into the bumper.
To the sides, larger 21-inch wheels are the first thing you will notice. Design of the wheels is similar to the design from the 60s. Camera mirrors are looking incredibly modern and character line is perfect. At the back, slim taillights are not surprising us at all. It is the same three-piece LED design as on the headlights. Bumper looks sporty and it painted in black color.
2020 Alfa Romeo Tonale Interior Specs
The interior of the 2020 Alfa Romeo Tonale will be premium in every possible way. For the start, the layout is driver-oriented and the first thing you’ll notice is a 12.3-inch full-digital display. This large unit sits behind the steering wheel. Aluminum and chrome accents are looking very beautiful and stylish. Alcantara and leather upholstery are providing great comfort and a real sense of luxury.
The dashboard hosts another 10.25-inch touchscreen. This infotainment screen comes with two specific apps. Alfisiti is the first one and it connects you with Alfa’ events, meetings and all sort of gatherings. Paddock is the second application and it allows the driver to purchase performance upgrades in real-time. As you may expect, new Tonale will offer room for four passengers.
Alfa’s First Plug-in Hybrid Drivetrain
Italian carmaker didn’t provide any information about the drivetrain. We know the 2020 Alfa Romeo Tonale will arrive with the plug-in hybrid technology. Also, reliable sources are saying it will be the same PHEV powertrain like on the new Jeep Renegade. That means a 1.3-liter four-cylinder engine will be mated to an electric motor.
Together, this output will generate up to 240 horses. Furthermore, this system will deliver around 30 miles of EV range. Renegade currently offers 31 miles on electric power and top speed is rated at 82 mph. Tonale model will surely offer around the same figures. However, Alfa Romeo will most likely offer a high-performance version, probably next year.
2020 Alfa Romeo Tonale Price and Release Date
The forthcoming 2020 Alfa Romeo Tonale will cost between $30,000 and $40,000. There will be numerous trim levels in the offer, but Italian carmaker didn’t say anything about the pricing details. Whatsoever, this small crossover will hit the dealerships in late 2019.
