The interior of the 2019 Ford Flex looks better than ever. The manufacturer is updated its cabin with the latest tech and now this model is in range with many SUVs on the market. The old one MyFord infotainment touchscreen is replaced with the newest version of the Sync 3 last year and the 2019 version will also get many updates. The infotainment system is now compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

With the standard equipment comes the newest AM/FM/CD player with Bluetooth phone connectivity. There is also a plenty of USB/aux inputs and a basic version of Sync. As we already said, this three-row SUV is a model that will be able to accumulate seven passengers. There is plenty of room and with the folded down two rows of seats, the buyers will get 83 cubic feet of cargo space.

Trims

There are three trims available with the newest model SE, SEL and Limited. The standard one offers a plenty of features and the newest Sync 3 system. However, with the SEL trim that is recommended one will get a dual-zone climate control, universal garage-door opener, 10-way-power driver’s seats, heated front seats and push-button start.

This features above will also add to the price $2700 more. The top of the offer is the Limited model that will add to this SVU a power tailgate, powerful Sony premium audio system, advanced navigation, leather and ventilated front seats, blind-spot monitoring, multipanel vista roof and heated steering wheel.

2019 Ford Flex engine specifications

The newest model 2019 Ford Flex is the SUV that will come with two powertrain options. Both versions are powered with the gasoline. However, we hear in the last couple of months that this model may also get a hybrid variant. This information is not yet confirmed by the company.

The standard engine that is under the hood of the 2019 Ford Flex is a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter V6 that delivers 287 HP and 254 lb-ft of torque. The optional engine is the powerful one with the 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6 that is capable to make 365 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 350 lb-ft of torque at 1,500-5,250 rpm.

Both models will be available with the 6-speed automatic gearbox. However, the turbo version in the limited trim comes with the steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters that give buyers more fun while driving. Also, the standard on all models is the front-wheel-drive system (FWD) and there is the optional all-wheel drive. The model will accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6,2 sec and will tops 121 mph.

Fuel economy

As for the fuel economy, both versions offer not good fuel consumption as crossover models like the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander. The standard engine has EPA city/highway fuel economy of 16/23 mpg for the FWD system and 16/22 mpg for the AWD. However, the second one that comes only with all-wheel drive provides 15/21 mpg.

2019 Ford Flex release date, price and competitors

The debut of 2019 Ford Flex will be in the middle of 2019. As for the price, the newest model will have Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of around $31,000. This is the price for the base SE model.

The SEL trim that comes with many features and with the optional all-wheel-drive system starts at $34,000. The most equipment and the top-line Flex Limited cost $39,500. However, with some options added, the newest Ford Flex SUV can easily pass the $48,000 mark. With this prices above, the Flex model will be in the line with models Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot, and Kia Sorento.
