The new 2024 Toyota 4Runner mid-size SUV is coming next year, and we can expect it to be more attractive than ever before. Like many mid-size SUVs, the new model will continue to use a popular body-on-frame architecture.
Japanese automotive brand will also make some upgrades inside as well, including better materials, more advanced techs, and even a longer list of safety driver assists features. Despite Toyota didn’t release any official specs of the next-gen 4Runner, many rumors are pointing out that the new variant will replace an aging V6 engine with a more powerful turbo-four engine.
Will the 2024 Toyota 4Runner Be Redesigned?
The 2024 Toyota 4Runner will be revamped, and it will ride on the same TNGA-F chassis, which is currently used on the Tundra truck and Sequoia SUV. Thanks to that, expect some improvements in driving dynamics. Visually, the exterior look of the 4Runner can change a bit depending on chosen trim level.
The TRD Pro model is one of the favorites, and it comes with a specially designed front skid plate, wheels, Crawl Control, TRD Fox high-performance off-road suspension, and a roof rack. The TRD Sport is another favorite model, which looks unique thanks to its scoop hood, front spoiler, color-keyed accents, and black roof rails.
Interior Improvements
From the information that we got, the aging cabin is gone, and the new 2024 Toyota 4Runner will introduce a more modern interior. In general, the seating layout to be unchanged, which means there should be enough comfort for up to five passengers.
Anyway, it seems that the 4Runner will receive the same treatment inside as the Tundra pickup. The interior will include much finer materials troughs trims, and a new 14-inch center display. We’re also expecting to see a wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.
2024 Toyota 4Runner New Engine
Under the hood, the 2024 Toyota 4Runner will most likely come will a new powertrain. We’re expecting to see a smaller 2.4-liter turbo-four engine that’s capable of producing 275 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. This engine will probably replace the thirsty 4.0-liter V6 engine that was able to produce 270 horses.
It is worth noting that the V6 engine comes with an outdated gearbox. So, expect a new model to use a modern 10-speed automatic transmission. Finally, just like the Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco, the 4Runner will likely come with 4WD as standard.
