Reportedly, the upcoming 2024 BMW X5 is getting some serious upgrades. As far as we know, the latest SUV will receive a new face and a ton of new tech as well. Some spy shots are available and the BMW X5 is slightly refined on the outside, just like the recently refreshed X3 and X4 models.
However, like the outgoing model, the new one will come with a variety of engine options under the hood. The base engine is a turbocharged mild-hybrid inline-6, while a plug-in hybrid variant comes optionally. There are also three twin-turbo V8 options under the M50i, X5 M, and X5 M Competition.
2024 BMW X5 Design
As we said, the new 2024 BMW X5 is getting the same refreshed design language as the X3 and X4 models. That means that squared lower side intakes will be replaced by vertical intakes. Also, the central grille is redesigned, and it looks way sharper and narrower.
The headlights are slimmer, adopting the same shape as we’ve already seen on the 4 Series. On the profile, we noticed new wheels and no obvious changes at all. Although, the redesigned taillights reveal new graphics, while rest of the rear fascia appears to be carrying over unchanged.
What’s New Inside?
Based on the latest news, the forthcoming 2024 BMW X5 will also get some upgrades inside as well. However, the seating layout remains, and the X5 has enough room for up to five passengers. Like the all-X models, we’re expecting the forthcoming X5 to get the same treatment.
This means it could get a new iDrive 8 infotainment system with dual screens and refreshed graphics. There should be a lot of customizability including different leather options, various wood, and aluminum interior trims, and even an Alcantara headliner. As standard, we’re expecting Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM, HD Radio, navigation, and a 10-speaker audio system.
2024 BMW X5 Engine Specs
Under the hood, just like before, the new 2024 BMW X5 will be powered by the same variety of engines. The base model uses a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-6 engine that produces 335 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque.
Optionally, you can get a PHEV variant that adds an electric motor, producing 389 horsepower combined. This engine also provides 30 miles of range with one charge. There are three twin-turbo V8 engines ranging with output from 523 horses (M50i), X5 M 600 horses, and the most powerful competition 617 horses.
2024 BMW X5 Price, Release Date
The base 2024 BMW X5 sDrive40i models will reportedly cost $62,000, which is an increase of 400 dollars compared to the model before. The AWD xDrive40i starts at $64,000, while the plug-in hybrid xDrive45e is around $66,000.
Upgrading to the V8 engine, you must prepare $85,500 for the M50i or 109,000 for the X5 M. The closest rivals in terms of price are the models such as the Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class, Audi Q7, Genesis GV80, and Land Rover Range Rover. According to our sources, production of the new SUV is expected to start next year, while sales are set for the end of 2023.
