According to the latest reports, the new 2023 Toyota Sequoia will get some improvements. Like before, the Sequoia will be closely related to the Tundra. In general, we can expect both models to ride on the same platforms, and both will probably use the same twin-turbo V-6 engine.
A new full-size pickup truck Tundra will reportedly arrive at the beginning of next year, which can only mean that a new Sequoia should also come shortly after. Toyota’s new SUV will use the automaker’s TNGA-F body-on-frame platform, the same we saw on the recently introduced 300-series Land Cruiser.
Is Toyota Going to Redesign the Sequoia?
The new 2023 Toyota Sequoia is the SUV riding on the same truck platform as the latest Tundra. According to the artist’s image, the upcoming model will look more aggressive than before. The manufacturer made some changes on the front and rear, making this SUV more truck-like. However, the differences between Tundra and Sequoia are minimalistic.
Both models have similar headlights and grille, but the grille on Sequoia looks less dramatic than the new Tundra’s. From available information, like the Tundra off-road-focused TRD Pro model, we should also expect that Sequoia gets the same treatment.
Interior Will Include a More Larger Infotainment
Toyota has been recently revealed some details of the new Sequoia’s interior. The cabin should be more modern, featuring the larger center-mounted touchscreen with Apple CarPlay capability and a JBL sound system. Overall, the model’s interior will be significantly improved, and it will receive more premium materials.
There are many available competitors, and Ford is looking to update its full-size Expedition SUV with a new infotainment screen of the 10.2-inch touchscreen. The same treatment will also get the upcoming Chevy Tahoe model as well. As for layout, it will remain the same, and expect the next Sequoia to fit seven passengers comfortably.
2023 Toyota Sequoia Engine Specs
The current Sequoia uses a V-8 powertrain that is capable of producing 381-hp. However, a twin-turbocharged 3.4-liter V-6 engine will likely to replace it. In addition, we also expect the same powertrain to power the new Tundra. This engine is potent, and it delivers around 409 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque in the Land Cruiser.
A hybrid drivetrain paired with a six-cylinder is also likely, and the blue lettering in a teaser image could be a hint at that. Each powertrain will be most than likely connected to a 10-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. However, four-wheel-drive configurations will be available but only as optional.
Release Date and Price
From the latest information, Toyota could show the third-generation Sequoia full-size SUV shortly after the debut of the Tundra pickup truck. It will be built alongside Tundra at Toyota’s factory in San Antonio, Texas.
The upcoming 2023 Toyota Sequoia will bring many improvements, and the biggest ones are the new platform and twin-turbocharged engine. As for the price, it will definitively jump for few thousand dollars. The current model starts little less than $60,000 for the standard model. So, if you are looking for an SUV that offers third-row seats, plenty of standard driver-assistance tech, and a potent powertrain, the new Sequoia is worth waiting for.
