The all-new electric crossover called 2023 Toyota bz4X is in the works. According to Toyota, the upcoming model will differ in many things compared to other models in the lineup. First of all, the electric crossover sits between the C-HR and RAV4 in terms of size, and it’s the first one to wear the “bZ” badge. Although the bZ4X also sports a new design language, it looks quite similar to Lexus SUVs. It dominates on the front fascia, adopting sporty lines and a recognized grille.
From the latest news, the bZ4X will make its debut at the Shanghai Auto Show next year, and the production should start soon after. Interestingly, it will be sold across the globe, including the United States.

The 2023 Toyota bZ4X looks attractive wearing the new design language. As mentioned, this SUV design reminds us and can be easily confused with some of the Lexus SUVs. Thanks to the short overhangs and long wheelbase, the bZ4X comes with distinctive proportions. As on many nowadays cars, the front fascia dominates with sporty lines, air vents, and a grille nose that identifies it as an electric vehicle.
On top of that, we noticed attractive black trim that flanks the slim headlights and extends to the wheel arches. Besides the front, the new model will also look beautiful from behind. It features a thin LED strip that connects the taillights, looking similar to the Lexus UX subcompact luxury SUV.
Interior
On the inside, the upcoming 2023Toyota bz4X looks luxurious and modern. Unlike the other Toyota models, this one comes with a unique cabin we have not yet seen. It also has a spacious cabin, allowing five seats.
The new SUV hosts a big infotainment screen in terms of technology that contributes to the upscale look. Also, we like the new airplane steering wheel, three-tone interior, and the premium gray fabric covering the dashboard. Interestingly, Toyota replaced the traditional shifter with a rotary gear selector, and they also added a smaller screen in front of the driver.
2023 Toyota bz4X Motor Specs
From the available information, the bZ4X should be powered by strong motors and excellent battery capacity. As we mentioned, this model will be the first one that will use the new Toyota’s e-TNGA platform.
Thanks to the light platform and battery pack, this model should provide at least 250-300 miles of driving range with a full charged battery. We saw a similar millage on the Chevrolet Bolt EUV, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Volkswagen ID4, and Ford Mustang Mach-E. Toyota also claims that it will also have the fast-charging capability. However, at this point, there is no information if this model will support FWD, but the all-wheel-drive capability is a must.
Release Date and Price
The 2023 Toyota bZ4X will start sometime in 2022, while sales should happen soon after. This SUV will be the first fully electrified vehicle produced by Toyota.
We expect it to come with a potent electric motor, great battery, and to support all-wheel-drive capability. Nevertheless, for a model that would cost around $36,000, it will definitively lure many customers.
