The new 2023 GMC Hummer EV will be reportedly on sale in 2022. As we already know it, this model will return as a 1000-hp fully loaded Edition 1 electric pickup truck. However, GMC’s new electric vehicle will also be available as an SUV. According to much gossips, the upcoming model will come with removable roof panels and seating for a maximum of five.
We also have some of the early images, and the new SUV looks almost the same as the pickup truck. However, unlike the pickup, the SUV variant will be shorter and it will come with a spare tire mounted on the back. As you may know, models like the Jeep Wrangler, Ford Bronco, and Hummer H2, are also available with spare tires.
2023 GMC Hummer EV Exterior
The upcoming 2023 GMC Hummer EV SUV variant has the same look as the pickup, which made its debut last year. It features an attractive design on the front including a chrome grille and the LED headlights double as charge indicators. Also, as on the pickup, we noticed the same small American flag hidden near the mid-section where the roof and body meet. However, unlike the pickup model, it seems the SUV is sitting very high off the ground. We also noticed although a spare tire mounted on the back, just like the Jeep Wrangler, Ford Bronco, and the Hummer H2.
As we heard, GMC will introduce also an extreme off-road package that will include 18-inch wheels wrapped in 35-inch mud-terrain tires, skid plates, rock sliders, a front electronically locking differential.
Interior Details
On the inside, the forthcoming 2023 GMC Hummer EV SUV will dominate like the pickup model. We expect to see the same stylish cabin and probably the same dashboard. However, there are many gossips that GMC will add more quality materials in the upcoming SUV variant. The pickup truck comes with a large 13.4-inch display that serves as the infotainment screen.
On top of that, GMC also added a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel as well. A host of connectivity features is available and we expect the same in the SUV variant. The package includes Apple CarPlay/Android Auto capability, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and GM’s OnStar telematics system.
2023 GMC Hummer EV Engine Specs
The new 2023 Hummer EV SUV will use probably the same electric setup as the pickup model. However, from the information that’s available SUV will be capable to provide 300 miles of range, which is around 50 less than the pickup.
The current truck with electric motors and battery pack delivers 830 horsepower, and it can run from the zero-to-60-mph time of around 3.5 seconds. Interestingly, we heard that the SUV variant will come with 170 less horsepower than the pickups because of the smaller battery. GM hasn’t announced battery capacities yet, but we can expect it to be capable with 800-volt DC fast charging.
Release Date and Price
The new 2023 GMC Hummer EV will probably arrive next year, featuring similar styling as the pickup variant. We also expect it to share the same engine, but with a smaller battery since the wheelbase is 8.9 inches shorter.
As for the price, the cheapest Hummer EV will start at $79,995 will the most equipped should be around $100k. Reservations are opened online, and the first Hummer EV SUVs will begin production next year. We’ll have much more detail about the new SUV version in the coming months.
