The new 2023 GMC Acadia is just around the corner. GMC recently stated that the next generation is ready for some serious upgrades. The first-generation Acadia was launched in 2007 as a full-size, three-row crossover.
However, a decade later, GMC introduced it as a midsize crossover that was significantly smaller than the original one. Actually, the third-generation model could return much larger than the first generation from the information we got. Production of the new model should start sometime next year, and we can expect Honda Pilot and Dodge Durango to be the leading competitors. Here’s everything that we heard about this fancy SUV.
2023 GMC Acadia Facelift
In terms of design, we should expect the new 2023 GMC Acadia to be more attractive. Reportedly, the next generation will be more significant, but it will still keep the same lines as its predecessor. The exterior design of the current model is conservative yet distinct, and the new one will continue to keep that for sure.
The design is classy, and it can be changed a bit depending on which trim you choose. The base model dominates on the front thanks to the massive grille and attractively shaped headlights. However, if you’re looking for more uniqueness, the manufacturer offers an off-road-ready AT4 model and the luxurious Denali trim. The AT4 off-road model features standard AWD, all-terrain tires, hill descent control, while Denali offers a unique chrome grille.
Cabin Upgrades
The cabin of the upcoming 2023 GMC Acadia will definitely follow the brand’s mainstream and luxury. We should expect more premium materials, but not quite like the Acura MDX. This interior is practical, and it is pretty roomy in the first two rows. However, the third row is ideal for children or taller passengers. The interior design will vary, especially choosing the upper Denali trim. This trim has a premium interior that includes heated 2nd-row seats, a heated steering wheel, and wireless charging.
However, even the entry-level model has many features to offer. You can find inside an excellent standard infotainment system of 8-inch screen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Also, the GMC Pro Safety Plus package comes standard, including automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, parking sensors, lane-keeping assist, following-distance indicator, forward-collision alert, lane-change alert with blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
2023 GMC Acadia Engine Specs
For 2023, the GMC Acadia will come with two engine options. Unlike the previous generation that uses a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated inline-4, the upcoming model one will be powered by the new 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 as a base engine. According to GMC, this powertrain can deliver 230 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. On top of that, this engine is very efficient and is rated in city/highway: 22/29 mpg (FWD), 22/27 (AWD). As you can see, it gives the Acadia impressive fuel economy for an SUV this size.
The next engine option is a 3.5-liter naturally aspirated V6 that’s also available under the hood of some GMC models. This mill comes standard with AT4 and Denali trims, producing 310 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque. However, unlike the very efficient base engine, this one is rated lower. It provides a fuel economy of 19/27 mpg (FWD), 19/26 mpg (AWD). Moreover, the V6 is more powerful, and it can take maximum tow of 4,000 pounds. All Acadia models come standard with a 9-speed automatic transmission and with FWD.
Release Date and Price
The release date of the new generation 2023 GMC Acadia will probably happen in the fall of 2022. As we said, the upcoming SUV will likely grow in size outside and inside. It should also introduce many amenities and plenty of new gadgets.
Pricing is still a mystery, but we expect it to be slightly higher than the current one that starts at $35,000. Of course, more upper trims like AT4 or Denali will costs a couple of thousand dollars more.
