2023 BMW X3 Review, Spy Shots, Redesign, Release Date, Price

2023 BMW X3

The new 2023 BMW X3 prototype has just been caught testing with a mid-cycle update. At first glance, we noticed some changes, and the upcoming generation will gain styling tweaks on the front and rear fascia. This small crossover SUV is one of the most popular models in BMW’s lineup.

Interestingly, the current BMW X3 has been on sale since 2018 year, and it breaks sales in the U.S. with nearly 60,000 sold out units last year. The redesigned model will arrive next year from the information that we got, starting at around $44,000 for the base model, which is a slightly jump over the current generation.

2023 BMW X3 First Look

Some of the spy shots are available, and they revealed the new 2023 BMW X3 is coming with a revised front and rear fascia’s. First of all, we noticed much more changes on the front than the rear. The X3 still dominates on the front, with an attractive grille, slimmer headlights, and new fog lights. It also looks like the grille is slightly enlarged. As on the back, the BMW X3 comes with the same shaped taillights, but some of the changes are present on the bumper, hosting two exhaust systems.

BMW is in the process of updating all models, including BMW X3 M, to help differentiate its styling. Besides this model, prototypes for a redesigned X1, 2-Series, and 7-Series, as well as the updated X7, are also caught recently testing.

Cabin Features

Inside, the 2023 BMW X3 should also gain some tweaks. Unfortunately, there is not a single available image of the cabin. Meanwhile, we heard plenty of gossips regarding its interior. First of all, though trim levels, this model could introduce more amenities and driver aids. Also, we know that one of the changes will bring a new and much bigger infotainment screen. Many believe that the 10.25 screen that was optionally, will be now standard.

Moreover, we also expect the same package of standard equipment as in the current generation. This means features that should be available are a fully configurable screen, similar to Audi’s Virtual Cockpit, 3-zone automatic climate control, SensaTec faux leather upholstery, and standard parking sensors.

2023 BMW X3 Engine Details

Under the hood, we can expect this SUV to deploy at least four engines. An entry-level model, the 2023 BMW X3 sDrive30i and xDrive30i come with a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder developing 248 horsepower. However, the more power delivers an X3 M40i using a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 producing 355 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. The PHEV variant xDrive30e is the most efficient, and it combines a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and a battery-fed electric motor. The whole system makes 288 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque.

BMW stated that this engine could travel up to 84 mph in Electric mode. For adrenaline-hungry users, BMW X3 M is an excellent choice. This model uses a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 that is capable of developing 473 horsepower or 503 horsepower. By the way, all models come standard with 8-speed automatic transmission.

When Can I Order the New 2023 BMW X3?

We expect the redesigned 2023 BMW X3 to debut sometime next year, probably in the half of the year. Besides this model, the manufacturer will also introduce the new BMW X4 around the same time. As for the pricing, the current model starts at $43,000, while the new one could cost an additional $1000.

However, the most expensive model is the X3 M that can go up to $80,000. Compared to other models in the class, the X3 is in the same pricing line with models Audi Q5 and Mercedes-Benz GLC.
