The all-new 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe is in the production stage, and we just got some of the spy photos from the scene. The prototype model has been caught testing yesterday, and from what we can see, it hosts some of the improvements. First of all, the new model looks refreshed and more aggressive than the predecessor. On top of that, Hyundai Santa Fe will finally get a new hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions.
However, it’s still too early to talk about details, but we also heard that Hyundai might continue to offer 2.0 turbo and 2.4-liter four-cylinder units alongside new engines.
2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Exterior
The new version of the mid-size SUV 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe, despite the camouflage, hides some improvements. However, as we can see, don’t expect anything drastic, just minor changes this time, unfortunately.
Starting from the front end, it seems that the cascade grille will grow in size, while the LED split-headlight design will be unchanged. The bumper will also get some refreshments, and it will probably in the same color as the body. While the vehicle’s profile will remain unchanged, on the back, the Hyundai Santa Fe will receive a new pattern for the taillights and restyled bumper.
Cabin Changes
The upcoming next-gen 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe, besides some small exterior updates, will also get a more premium cabin. However, unfortunately, our photographer could not manage to snap some interior pictures, and we can’t be sure what will be changed. Still, we managed to get some of the information regarding technology updates. First of all, the new version will be equipped with a new infotainment system software plus new upholstery and trim.
However, some features might remain like Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, a tilt/telescopic steering column, a rearview monitor, dual front and rear 2.1 USB power ports. Safety will probably remain the same, including forward-collision assist (with pedestrian protection), lane-keeping assist (with three levels of involvement), driver-attention warning system, and so on.
2022 Hyundai Santa Fe Powertrain Rumors
Under the hood, the new 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe will be available with a few engine options. The first powertrain that also powers the current model is a 2.0 turbo producing 235 horses. The next one available under the current model is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder unit, making 185 HP, respectively. Both units are exclusively made for North America.
The biggest news is that this family SUV will finally gain new hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions. However, the manufacturer didn’t yet reveal any information regarding these powertrains.
Release Date and Price
The forthcoming 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe prototype has been spied testing and is wearing heavy camo. As we managed to see, the new SUV will bring plenty of improvements. According to a reliable source, the next-generation will probably arrive either towards the end of the year or early next year.
Nevertheless, the price will be slightly higher, justified by many updates. The current model starts at $28,000 for the base model, while the Limited 2.0T goes for just under $38,600. The Hyundai Santa Fe is a real contender that will try to beat models in the same segment as Ford Edge, Jeep Cherokee, Chevrolet Equinox, Honda CR-V, and Toyota RAV4.
