The Blue Oval’s most stylish SUV, the Ford Escape, is getting further updates. The new model called 2022 Ford Escape is ready for the new adventure. If you didn’t know, this model is available on the market since 2000, and back in that time, it took plenty of attention.
For 2022, Ford should introduce some changes and make this SUV more appealing. Moreover, most of the changes will happen inside, of course, with mild refresh outside. Like the current model, the new one will offer four engine options, including hybrid and plug-in hybrid.
Is the Ford Escape a Good SUV?
The Escape models are very durable. In terms of outside design, the new 2022 Ford Escape should keep the same proportion and shape as the current one. However, it will obviously see a- major redesign, but it will be still recognized by its large grille and the same shaped headlights.
The front fascia of the forthcoming Escape imitates some European models such as the new Ford Focus and Mondeo. The design is unique and remained as on the famous Aston Martin sport car. However, on the new Escape grille now sits slightly lower with the slightly squinty headlights extending from the top corners. On the back, we can expect the same sporty stance as on the current model, with small refreshed styling.
Cabin Improvements
The cabin of the new 2022 Ford Escape could introduce some new techs. As you probably may know, the current model provides a very spacious and techy cabin with some lacks of material. However, for 2022, the manufacturer will fix that, and it should put more quality. Generally, the last model suffers from several low-rent plastic panels, including those on the doors and lower center console. Obviously, many good things remain, and Blue Oval offers highly textured cloth seat upholstery as standard. However, choosing higher trims, buyers can enjoy in either convincing faux-leather seating surfaces or genuine leather in the top-spec Titanium.
We expect the same package of techs inside as on the current one. Basically, the entry S models come standard with a 4.2-inch radio display and an AM/FM radio as the only entertainment. However, jumping to SE trim, one will get a larger 8.0-inch touchscreen display with Ford’s latest Sync 3 interface and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto capability. The most expensive and equipped trim Titanium adds 10- B&O Play audio system, navigation, and a 12.3-inch digital gauge display.
2022 Ford Escape Powertrain Specs
Like the current Escape, the new one offers a wide range of powertrains. The entry-level model uses a 1.5-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 181 horses. This model can be had with either front- or all-wheel drive. From the last results, this model managed to accelerate with the all-wheel-drive system from 0 to 60 mph in 7.7 seconds.
Upgrading to a more potent 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged output will jump to 250 horses. Thanks to this powerful engine, the model with this engine accelerates in 5.7-second from the zero-to-60-mph test. Both gasoline engines above are paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Blue Oval also offers a hybrid and plug-in hybrid version consists of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder and two electric motors which combination delivers 221-hp.
Release Date and Price
The new 2022 Ford Escape will be better, and it will deliver plenty of upgrades. This model could be available to purchase at some point next year. Like the current model, we assume that price will not drastically change.
The current entry-level model starts at $26,000, delivering a great package of standard equipment. Models that are in the same class with Escape are Nissan Rogue, Mazda CX-5, and Subaru Forester.
