New 2021 Nissan Xterra is a smaller Nissan Terra SUV. Xterra is also smaller than the U.S. version of Nissan Pathfinder. For now, Xterra will go sale in China, but Nissan evidently plans to deliver this stylish SUV in the U.S.
Chinese and North American versions will depart in terms of performance. That means the two models will deploy different engines. Xterra is a mid-size SUV that has been discounted five years ago. Now, the new-gen model is about to arrive, and we can expect numerous innovations.
Exterior Redesign
The approaching 2021 Nissan Xterra will ride on the same platform that underpins the Frontier pickup. The same architecture is available in Renault Alaskan and Nissan Navara. Nissan’s design language is easy to recognize, and Xterra will be no different. Still, most of the exterior cues are shared with the larger Tera SUV. Reports are even suggesting that the new Nissan Rogue will have a significant impact on design of the all-new Xterra. It will be interesting to see the production model for numerous reasons.
After all, 2021 Xterra will be the next-gen model. That means we can expect numerous changes and improvements over the previous version. Nissan will introduce new headlights and its famous V-Motion grille. Hood will sport rounded scoops and gorgeous sharp lines. Xterra will definitely deploy a more angular design with more abundant features such as taillights and bumpers. Nissan’s newest SUV is 192 inches long, and its wheelbase is rated at 112 inches.
Practical and Modern Interior
The interior of the arriving SUV will be very similar to the interior of the Terra model. On the other hand, new 2021 Nissan Xterra will offer less room from the inside. The cabin will be very modern, and it will look upscale. The credit goes to various high-quality materials, new upholstery and additional chrome accents. Even the base model will look satisfying and pleasant.
Nissan will offer a logical order of the buttons as the goal is to deliver a functional cabin layout. There will be room for seven persons across the three rows of seats. Some reports are suggesting a five-seat version, but this is just a rumor for now.
U.S. Version Will Get a V6 Engine
The forthcoming 2021 Nissan Xterra will offer a 2.5-liter gasoline engine. This four-cylinder unit is available in China. On top of that, Xterra will also provide a 2.5-liter diesel. Both outputs will use a 6-speed manual and 7-speed automatic transmission. However, Nissan also plans to deliver its newest SUV in United States.
The U.S. variant will most likely deploy a 3.5-liter V6 that generates 190 hp and 225 lb-ft of torque. Of course, there is still room for new rumors and speculations. For these reasons, plenty of engines are in the game, but some sort of V6 powertrain is the most likely outcome.
2021 Nissan Xterra Price and Release Date
The Xterra SUV will slot between Murano and Pathfinder models in terms of size. However, one thing is sure: the 2021 Nissan Xterra will cost more than either of those two models. That means the price will start at around $32,000.
We are still waiting for the trim levels to be announced. Even the Pro-4X version is probable for 2021. New Xterra will hit the dealerships next fall.
