The 2021 Ford Escape will arrive with mid-cycle refreshments. It is one of the best-selling Blue Oval’s nameplates for a good reason. Escape is riding on its fourth-generation. It comes with three powertrain options and a hybrid variant is now available as well. Whatsoever, rightly-equipped Escape offers a class-leading towing rate. Interior is very upscale and comfortable.
Most importantly, Escape is an affordable crossover. It comes with an attractive design and compact dimensions. Escape will rival Mazda CX-5, Toyota RAV4, and Honda CR-V. On top of that, the European version of Escape is available under the name “Ford Kuga”.
2021 Escape Exterior Facelift
According to numerous reports, the 2021 Ford Escape is set for another mid-cycle refreshment. However, fourth-gen Escape started recently and everything looks fresh. Compact crossover offers an expressive appearance and modern styling. On top of that, current global-platform is relatively new. Escape sports a high-strength steel frame and aluminum work are superb. This change happened this year. The main reason is the hybrid powertrain.
For that reason, C1 architecture is gone. On the other hand, the 2021 Escape will arrive with the same dimensions as its predecessor. Even the shape is exactly the same. We like the look of the front fascia. The trapezoidal grille looks perfect, along with the LED headlights. Side mirrors are also new and 18-inch wheels are available as standard. It is just a rumor for now, but Ford could introduce new exterior paints.
Interior Features, Cargo Space
When it comes to interior design, Escape has one of the best cabins in the compact crossover SUV segment. Everything from the inside looks so upscale and modern. On top of that, upper trim levels are offering pure luxury. There will be room for five passengers once again, despite the new platform. This time, the 2021 Ford Escape offers the best interior layout so far. Buttons and controls are perfectly placed. Moreover, controls on the steering wheel are simple and easy to use.
Center stack is repositioned, along with the shift leveler. The infotainment system is up to date and we can expect new safety aids. For the rest of the interior, everything will largely remain. Still, comfort is great. Front bucket seats are one of the main reasons. Furthermore, armrests are larger than in the previous-gen Escape. Cargo area is rated at 68.3 cubic feet. Generally, for a compact crossover, 2021 Escape offers ample interior room.
Three Powertrain Options
The same three engine options are available once again. The upcoming 2021 Ford Escape will offer a standard 1.5-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost. This unit produces 180 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque. A 2.0-liter turbo-four is optional and it delivers 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of twist. Both units are available with a relatively new 8-speed automatic transmission. Third powertrain option is a hybrid.
A plug-in variant comes with a 48-volt electric system and belt-driver alternator. This will improve overall efficiency. Ford promises over 100 mpg thanks to a larger battery pack. The electric motor should add more horses so we can expect even better performances. An all-electric driving range delivers 50 miles.
2021 Ford Escape Price and Release Date
The price of the all-new 2021 Ford Escape starts at $25,000. It is the same price as the 2020 model. SEL trim level will cost around $30,500 and Titanium model around $36,000. A plug-in hybrid version will cost over $32,000.
New Ford Escape will compete with Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-5, and Toyota RAV4. On top of that, Hyundai will seriously upgrade its Tucson model for 2021. The same stands for Kia and its Sportage model. As a matter of fact, Blue Oval will release new Escape later in 2020.
