Whatsoever, the mid-size crossover will enter its third year of production. Logically, the changes aren’t significant at all. However, Audi is about to introduce the Q8 plug-in hybrid version.
The 2021 Q8 will also get the RS variant. So here you go. A luxury crossover that offers premium interior, impressive design, fuel efficiency, and performance. So far, only one engine option is available. The new optional engine is speculation, but also less likely to happen.
Minor Visual Upgrades
The forthcoming 2021 Audi Q8 is not even set for mid-cycle refreshments. The changes are really minor, especially from the outside. As you probably know, this will be the third year of the production for this mid-size crossover. So, the first-gen model will continue in the same manner. Based on the Q7, Audi Q8 will ride on the same MLB platform and even the mechanics are almost the same.
A coupe-crossover offers different shape and proportions than its Q7 sibling. The front part looks eye-catching and extremely modern. In the back, Q8 will get a small revision of the taillights. Q8 is known for its gorgeous sloping roofline that provides sportier appearance.
Technology Updates
We already wrote about the 2020 Q8. For that reason, we will focus on the upgrades from the inside only. The 2021 Audi Q8 will get numerous tech updates. However, it is the only sort of upgrades from the inside. The rest of the cabin will stay intact. Anyway, the infotainment system is updated. On top of that, displays will get a new interface.
Audi will introduce more safety aids and driver-assistance features. The two-row layout remains and you don’t really have to worry about the comfort. Audi is known for its “Virtual Cockpit” and interior looks really impressive and modern.
Proven V6 Engine is Still Available
While some rumors are suggesting a new optional engine, we don’t believe that will happen. A 3.0-liter V6 is still available and it produces 335 horsepower. The upcoming 2021 Audi Q8 has great acceleration. On the other hand, fuel economy delivers only 17 mpg in the city. The optional engine makes perfect sense, but now that the Audi will offer a hybrid version, the new powertrain is not needed.
2021 Audi Q8 Hybrid
The all-new 2021 Audi Q8 will get a plug-in hybrid version. This variant will deploy the same 3.0-liter V6 in a combination with an electric motor. Surprisingly, a hybrid model will offer more power and solid mileage. This output will generate 443 hp and 515 lb-ft of torque. Q8 Hybrid comes with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Thanks to the floor-mounted 14.1 kWh battery, this model will offer around 30 miles of driving range. It is a significant improvement, no doubt. However, everyone expected even better mileage and smaller power figures.
2021 Q8 Price and Release Date
Due to minor upgrades, new 2021 Audi Q8 will keep its current starting price. The base model is available for $65,500. A hybrid version will cost around $71,000 and RS variant almost $80,000.
