The fourth-gen 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid will introduce plenty of changes. This popular compact SUV will introduce both hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions. On top of that, Escape Hybrid will get further exterior changes and upgrades.
All variants are using a front-wheel-drive setup as standard. Fuel economy of the Escape Hybrid is not available yet. However, Blue Oval will surely put its crossover in line with the rest of the competition. The price will be slightly increased and Escape Hybrid will hit the markets in the last quarter of 2019.
2020 Ford Escape Hybrid Won’t Depart From the Regular Model
Escape recently introduced its new design. The 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid will ride on the same platform as Ford Focus. On top of that, some cues and features are similar to the Focus model. That includes sharper taillights and longer rear hatch. Up front, trapezoidal grille and LED headlights are slightly changed.
Openings are larger now and dual exhaust tips are a clear indication of the new powertrain. Side mirrors will be all-new. Hybrid variant won’t depart from the regular model in terms of design. Dimensions are exactly the same. The 2020 Escape Hybrid will be available in SE Sport and Titanium trim levels. If you want a plug-in hybrid model, Ford offers SE, SEL and Titanium trim.
Interior Provides a Great Level Of Comfort
The interior of the brand-new 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid will look premium. There will be room for five passengers over the two rows of seats. The layout is perfect and the cabin looks very modern. The infotainment system will get an update and multifunctional steering wheel gets slightly more buttons. Front bucket seats are providing a great level of comfort.
Armrests are larger now and there will be plenty of room inside the compact crossover. However, the hybrid model comes with less headroom and legroom. In order to accommodate a battery pack, the floor is slightly higher. Legroom in the second row is reduced by 1.7-inches. Cargo area is now rated at 30.7 cubic feet, instead of the previous 33.5 cubics.
2020 Ford Escape Hybrid Powertrain
Blue Oval will now introduce both traditional hybrid and plug-in hybrid models. The plug-in hybrid variant comes with a bigger battery pack that offers 30 miles of all-electric driving range. This model comes with a standard front-wheel-drive system. The standard hybrid model offers an all-wheel-drive setup. Ford is still silent on the fuel economy figures. However, the company’s claims are suggesting a range of 550 miles with the 14.2-gallon fuel tank. That means we can expect around 38 mpg combined.
This rating puts 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid in line with rivals such as Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. Moreover, Escape will deliver better fuel economy than the Nissan Rogue Hybrid model. Of course, a 1.5-liter four-cylinder EcoBoost delivers 180 HP and 177 lb-ft of torque. Optional 2.0-liter four-cylinder comes with a turbocharger. It lowers the fuel economy but it can produce up to 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of twist.
Price and Release Date
The price of the 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid will start at around $30,000. The base gasoline model will cost $27,000. The plug-in hybrid version will be priced at over $30,000.
Titanium model costs $35,000 and adding hybrid drivetrain will get you to $40,000. Blue Oval’s newest compact crossover will go on sale in the last quarter of 2019.
